Sticking accelerator pedal

Recently replaced the throttle cable on my 1993 RRC SWB. Now if I release my foot from the accelerator, sometimes the revs hold and truck continues under throttle - as if it's on cruise control. If I tuck my toe behind the accelerator pedal and pull it back towards me the throttle releases, the revs drop, and everything behaves normally.

I haven't dug into it yet, mainly because my RRC RAVE is not a searchable PDF, which makes research time consuming. What should I be looking at here?

Something in the throttle body itself? Cleaning? Lubrication?
Something with the pedal? Is there a return spring on the pedal that could be tired and isn't strong enough to kill the throttle when released?

Searching either the Disco or RR tech forums didn't turn anything up.
