I am loaning my '96 D1 to an elderly friend to use in Charlottesville, VA over the winter while I am in FL.
While it is in his care, it may need some work or repair, which I will pay for, but I do not want to get hosed by it ending up at an unscrupulous "mechanic". My friend is unfamiliar with Rovers and may not know who to call.
Can anyone give me a name of a mechanic/ contact in the area who is trustworthy and familiar with the vagaries of the Disco?

Ben (I think) at Land Rover Alternative right on main for convienience's sake ((434) 923-0964).

Depends on where in Cville of course, closer to Richmond there are alternatives like Sarek.

Ben is probably going to be the best bet for the area. X2 on Sarek if in Richmond. There is also Eurotune in Midlothian where two Land Rover Richmond techs work, as well as one of the advisors.
