They should have "better built" the old Coleman stoves. They don't hold up, either.

I mean, what the fuck could possibly break on one of these stoves? Stamped steel, welded steel, riveted steel, heavy gauge, light gauge, tin, aluminum, titanium, who has a problem with these stoves coming apart? I travel with a glass french press on the same trips I take my stove on and yet the french press made of glass does not break. So what does it possibly matter? And what does that goofy Japanese clothing have to do with stoves or mugs or buckets? You have the clothing selection of Steve Irwin, and you're making fun of a Japanese mumu like you have some sort of fashion sense? I mean seriously, get yourself a $12 subscription to GQ or something for Christmas and catch up with the times - pants three sizes too tight in the crotch went out of style in 1984.

Well ya see - I got TWO stoves for less than a SnowPeak. I slide the pin out of the piano hinge and bingo bango - I have two stoves/4 burners for those times when I was serving meals to larger groups. I guess I could of bought two Coleman stoves, but the design of the Partner was as such that it was rather convenient and easy to use both stoves separate with the same tank/Y hose. Twice the stove in many ways.

I'm getting a vasectomy, so no need for those tight pants anymore.

I still can't understand the need for a $200+ bomb proof camp stove but maybe I'm just too easy on my old $40 Coleman

I had never heard of Snow Peak. So I checked out their site. I can't believe the prices of some of that shit. A $425 cot? An $890 wool coat? $460 down vest? WTF?

I appreciate all this tech and stoves but do people still just use the old fashioned Dutch oven for stew, cobbler or boiling a damn hot dog?

It's nothing unsual. How about a $1,800 Filson coat? By Garrett's logic Filson would be a no-no because Wal-Mart has a cheap coat.

Your analogy is way off. The discussion was about quality products within reasonable prices - Partner. And average products at unreasonable prices - SnowPeak. I own some Filson, but comparing it to Wal-Mart clothing is another poor analogy.

SnowPeak has no history in quality clothing measured against other well known and trusted companies. So for them to advertise their crappy clothes and then charge crazy money is unfounded. They don't even list Gore or similar companies within their product line for water/wind proofing. It goes to show who they are marketing to - the gullible. And if you don't think that translates through their entire product line - well have I got some car camping gear for you! Step right up!

No way on the $40 bucket. I'd use a Homer bucket or a free kitty litter bucket instead.

If the Snowpeak stove and table was 1/3 the price, it would be a good replacement for my coleman stove and cheap folding table (which doubles as a cook surface and dining table).

It is unusual Dan. A four season tent from Mountain Hardwear for $1,300 is within reason if you're a professional high altitude climber. Why? Because it's what they have been doing for decades and do it well. SnowPeak is a joke. $440 ponchos, $400 stoves and $500 fire retardant down vests prove that.

A $100 tent from Wal Mart isn't trying to be something it's not. It's a cheap $100 tent. A $1,300 SnowPeak tent is trying to be something it's not. Get it?

She looks like her mom made her wear it so they could take a picture for her crazy old aunt who gave it to her for Christmas.

In other words, Jimmy, your stainless steel coffee press is better because it's overbuilt. Unless, of course, you bought it at Williams Sonoma. If that's the case it's not as good as the Stanley coffee press. You see, Stanley is a great company and if it were not for Stanley, transporting bull semen would have been a big problem. So it depends on which stainless steel coffee press you have because some stainless steel coffee presses don't work as well because they cost more and look better.

Daniel - You get farther and farther off the mark with each and every post! In your old age you get "spun-up" and disoriented too easily.

I have found it somewhat remarkable that the "buzz word" in apparel and general merchandise has become "Japan".

Japanese Selvedge Denim
Japanese Bladed Cutlery
Japanese Oxford Cloth
Japanese Camping Equipment

It seems that if it's made in Japan it HAS to be of the highest quality. Made by the artisanal hands of ancient Japanese custom and tradition.
