you are better off getting a rebuilt one from roversdownsouth.com.... all the used units at the salvage yards are 1000 plus...and many have miles.

I'm a 5-speed disco owner and this is my second 5-speed disco.
This is the bottom line.....
The stock box sucks. Period. Too many design problems that LR never took care of. Premature spline wear, shitty synchros and leaks all plauge this thing. And thats just with a good one. I have heard of them jumping out of gear with less than 50k on them.
The onlyl good news is that they are light and you can install them without a lift if you got skills and 4 good jacks.
The BEST thing you can do is to get a hold of John C from 4x4AG and have him get you one from Ashcroft in the UK. They rebuild these things BETTER than Land Rover ever made them new. WELL WORTH the money and time.
In fact, they are so good that they will increase the resale value of the truck.
