I had a Discovery II car that the cruise control was not operating intermittently. I searched high and low for the answer and I only found mention of this twice but no one had a real answer as to what fixed it. So I will post this up. This effects possibly any year D2 since it was seen on a 2000, 2002 and this one is a 2004.
Symptom is cruise control intermittently not working and I found that it was not operating when the Factory radio was on. Turn the radio off and it worked perfectly. I saw 2 others that had this problem but no one came back with a result of what fixed it.
Solution, another stock radio was swapped in place, the problem went away and cruise control was operating properly. So looks like there was an internal short in the factory radio.
