How does the Spitronics compare to the Lucas injection?

Difficult to be specific as it's recently fitted. What I have noticed is: -
Easier starting.
Definite improvement in fuel economy, cannot measure accurately as yet but will do when I can get the pesky rev counter and instruments to work and I can do a long trip.
Pulls better on the open road especially when under load.

Downside is the idle speed that needs to be a little on the high side, due to no vacuum advance. Selecting a gear on the auto box tends to want to kill the motor. Working on this to find a solution.
Getting the rev counter to work on this model. Not sure if other models will have the same issue.

Hi,

Spitronics fitted to my old Lorry 3.5L V8 RRC auto. Also overhauled the motor and had a few other engine mods. done: -
Branches fitted and coated in and out with ceramics.
SST 63mm ID free flow exhaust.
3.9 Cam fitted.
Gas flowed heads
1994 2.0L CLI model 8 Valve VW Jetta electronic idle valve. Marked A642 WAG solved the idle issue

What did I find after this?
Nice gains in power, probably a bit from the Spitronics but mainly the cam etc.
Better open road fuel economy by about 5.5% speed dependent, it's brick after all. Still need to do a longer trip.

Now the bad part. Cannot get the original tachometer that gets it's pulses from the alternator to work. WHERE to connect to and HOW do I correct this?
Not keen on fitting an aftermarket Tach.
