Trying to remove some really ugly paint from an alloy wheel. Used "Aircraft Remover" for most of it, but the last of it is almost a film thickness and a bitch to get off. Is there a particular thinner that works better on automotive paint?

Acetone, Xylene, Laquer, MEK ....?

Thanks

Trying to retain the original stock alloy finish. Will the nylon wheel leave "brush" marks? Worst case, I would just like to clear them.

Maybe. Depends on grit and how you use it.

You might try a solvent, thick gloves, and a synthetic mesh dish scrubbing pad.

You could also pay someone to soda blast them.

Make sure you do it in a small, enclosed space to get Max huffing effect.

There are various grades of scouring pads available. I'd get a few samples and try them in inconspicuous areas. (of the wheels)
