The fire here has gotten quite a bit more serious in the last couple of hours. It came down from the ridge above town into the houses below. They have closed I-25 and evacuated large swaths of neighborhoods south of the Air Force Academy and west of the interstate.

Hope COS Dwebbers are safe. I just got back from driving up by 30th/Mesa and shot these photos:

Some pretty crazy scanner traffic going right now:

The entire state of Colorado and most of the Four Corners area in one giant bone-dry tinder box right now. We are even worried about the annual monsoon starting up for fear of it's lightning. We want the rain and increased humidity that usually occurs in July and August but we are very worried about the coming lightning. Could be a fire holocaust coming.

Depending on how things progress, FS may close many if not all trails for motorized access. It's still about three weeks or so before a chance of monsoon rains.

Friend of mine lives in the Springs, about 3 miles from The Broadmoor.
he said this morning some evacuees are staying at his house for now.
If it jumps toward him, he's coming here.
1 of my son's friends attends CU Boulder, she has an apartment there.
Talked to her this morning; told her if she needs to run away, call me & i'll be there in my truck. She doesn't have a car...
Nothing happening around me right now, hope it stays that way...
