The looks of the new Discovery do very little to distinguish it from everyone else's Generic Modern SUV, and that kinda sucks.
The LR3 maintained the shape of the Disco with the roofline and general shape. The D5 just has the clusterfuck of a rear door

I saw one recently here and it looks much worse in person.
He asked about the LR3. An LC200 and others of similar year are double or more.

As far as new products, there's no way I'm flushing 65k down the toilet on a hyper-depreciating luxury suv, in the middle of an SUV bubble.

I have an irrational attachment to my 99 D1 disco and will spend money to get another 10 years out of her. I don't know how people can afford to buy $65k vehicles that depreciate like crazy. I beat mine through the mountains and desert and would probably never take anything that expensive off road. Land rover has become a car and has assumed the suppository shape of the mundane. Jeep found a way to maintain heritage and profit from it maybe someday LR will do the same. Im sure the new disco is a nice car its just not related in any way to the D1 SD I drive everyday.

I have the same irrational attachment to my 2004 Disco but the money pit is starting to wear on me. Transfer case just started leaking on me again...had it resealed in March 2015 and not looking forward to another $1100 to seal it up again. Oh, and hey, while I'm at it, might as well renew the leaking throttle body heater again too! Will be the 5th or 6th time in 10 years of ownership.

Sometimes I miss Land Rover ownership, but then I just peek here and am reminded why I only have one.

It's like an ex I think about fondly - great sex, amazing ass and was "into" porn. Then I remember what a fucking shit show her mental state really was under it all and am happy to be running "trouble free" for quite some time.

Kind of like when Bill ^^ was cool - sending me titty pics, etc.

All this happens to you because the Disco2 was the first step away from the true heritage. Gone was the swivel housing, gone was the semi-floating axle bearing set up. All the coolant leaks started because that's how you know your driving a BMW engineered vehicle.

Just like my life went wrong because of one decision in Highschool

"turn left to go into building trades, turn right for automotive trades"

your Rover ownership was tainted because you bought BMW's version of a truly great truck. BMW's truck was not as good.

Oh forgot to mention the fact that the Discovery has been on the road for more than 6 months and I don't see any problems with them. And we sell every one we get, can't keep them around. So somebody out there likes them.

Lots of male hair dressers out there that need some wheels. Not all of them love Miata's.

I don't care if they suck dick all night in a gay bar bathroom. You call him a fag, I call him a customer.

I mean the real gay bars like the ones with gay porn on the tv's and a long line for the bathroom but the toilet never flushes.

I never implied they were gay. Just the fact that more feminine men will find much of the Land Rover product line attractive. They are pretty luxury cars. No longer a brand that once stood for a very different part of their history. You are selling expensive hand bags now.

I Agree. But it's a business. You gotta build what people want to buy. If the defender doesn't hit the utility mark all is lost for any hope of keeping the heritage alive. I see systems coming that are going to do all the off-road thinking for you. Like one system I can't remember what they call it will accelerate the vehicle to a speed of about 20mph. So no matter what kind of soup your in, the system will launch the truck with the best throttle level, traction control to control wheel slip. Any soccer mom or hair dresser will have all the off road driving skill she needs at the touch of a button. But also I think there's other systems coming with defender. I kind of hope they leave it steel sprung in a stripped down version guys like us could afford. I think that would save the brand more than all the high tech systems.

Garett's mom AND perky titties do not belong in the same sentence.

I agree with this if you are including the LR3. I'm pretty sure the new Discovery would be more capable off road than an LR3.

"Pretty" is relative. Kinda like those skanks with Michael Kors bags. Or Bill's mom.

Yeah, mom insults are usually Chapman's wheelhouse. Of course, he's a little busy lately.
