Hi, I am looking to refresh the look on my 92 SWB RRC by swapping out the wheels.Thought about sourcing and restoring used wheels, but for that same cost I can have brand new wheels shipped to from the UK. Looking to enquire if any fellow member here has 18 inch wheels on their RRC (Pictures if applicable would be great). The one of my particular interest to me is the 18 inch boost alloy, but am contemplating in general between the 16 vs 18 inch.

16" Boost or TWR wheels would look nice on a Classic, even flat five-spokes from 93-94 Classics.

Do it. Fuck the haters. It's not like you're proposing 24" bling. Rovers came from the factory with 18" starting in the mid 90's.

Im all for people doing what they please to their vehicle. That said Not everything looks good. Personallly Im a fan of smaller wheels on older vehicles. The newer cars and trucks are being designed with larger wheels in mind so most actually look good with 20's

If you wanted something really distinctive you could install the 16" propeller wheels that came on early Discoveries.

However, went back to the OEM Tornado wheel as just seemed to look better.

I agree the Cyclones look better on the RRC than the propellers, but it's all a matter of personal taste. Good to see the comparison.

Gents, Thanks for the feedback. Not pulled the trigger as of yet, but did find a picture of the 18 inch boost alloys on a RRC (attached below). The cost for the 18 inch wheels in GBP is about 40% more than the 16 inch. Still contemplating on this as I took a lot of time on redoing the brakes and whilst at it ended up really cleaning and painting the calipers (images to follow). The clean looking bakes is one of the motivating factors to go for the 18 inch boost alloys. I will update soon with pictures as to where I finally land.

Now that you have a photo of the RRC with 18" wheels, I don't think they look that bad. I still prefer the look of the 16" wheels, but taste is subjective. Part of the appeal of the RRC (to me, at least) is that its grace is elegant and understated. Showing off red calipers behind bigger wheels feels incongruent with the original design ethic, but it would certainly be distinctive. More importantly, I hope the new brake system is an improvement on the originals performance-wise.

I always felt the brakes on my RRC were very good especially compared to my D1. That benchmark is pretty low yet the RRC has good stopping.

Looking back at the various Rovers owned in the past, the RRC has the best of all including the 110 we had in Brasil.

The red calipers are ridiculous.

If the 92 has the same setup as 93-95, those are the best brakes by far. I'd say these are comparable to LR4 brakes in performance.

I'm pretty happy with my 1993 RRC brakes' stopping power. It's a firm pedal feel, but my other Rover is a D1 on which I installed Defender 110 front calipers, so while the stopping power is improved over stock the pedal feel is softer. I still drive both vehicles conservatively, however.

How true! Especially in my area with the deer population.

Odds are not in my favor to stop either Rover in time if driving quickly.

Those aren't Boost wheels.
