The manual shifting in a 4HP22 is accomplished by removing the governor springs! This was a test that I was doing to see what it would take to get the tranny to shift manually. I had no intentions of leaving it like that, but it turned out that I liked it. Especially off-road. It allows you to be able to crawl allot better and smoother, especially over rocks. Not for everybody, but it works well for me.

Factory rear drive shaft!

With the 4HP22 in the stock configuration it will shift manually from 2nd to 3rd even overdrive, but it is that shift from first to second that I did not like, and I wanted to be able to put it in first and stay in first.

I could have sworn when you put it in 1 it stays in first gear.

uh most automatic Rovers Ive driven have a D321 kinda selection going on. My classic stays in first untill I select second or any other consecutive gears for that matter? Must be some special rock crawler mod we dont know about, get it special at RCH.

Yeah, I'm a little lost as well. Is it ever automatic now? How do you shift "manually?"

From the P to the D position the truck will not move at all! You have to go to first, first and move through the gears like a manual transmission, minus the clutch:)!
