Again, the roof is no different from the pre-2004 models. The rear hole looks exactly like your D1 and exactly like the shot I posted of the front hole. The tube has a flat section which interfaces with the roof, it is NOT round.

Damn, never thought that the tube would be flattened. Imagine that.

D1 rack will NOT fit a D2.

Wanna bet?

I have a SD D1 low rack on my D2.. It's just 6 or 8 inches too short on the back, which is easily extended... (Which I will do, when I get around to it :smilelol: )

& that's good to know about the '04 roof. I was always told the back of the '04's had a huge hole...

Do you need to remove the headliner or do the rails just unbolt from the roof?

see the article about it in tech. or get up on your roof and try to find a bolt to unbolt from the outside.

Just FYI, it's more work if you have rear air.
Then you have to remove the entire headliner not just remove the rear side parts and remove just the front stuff to reach above it. The reason you have to remove the entire headliner if you have rear air is because you have to remove the ducts to get to the bolts...

Wow, that sounds like a pain in the ass. I didn't even have to deal with sunroofs on my truck.

Someone PM'd me to see what the studs on the underside of the rails look like. I had these awful pictures on my phone. The washer is permanently attached to the nut, although the washer is free to swivel.
