So the woman was videoing so that she could turn in the drivers of the other vehicles for "obstructing traffic". Just what we need is more soviet style citizens ratting on each other to settle minor squabbles. I think the 2x4 going through her window was KARMA.

Been years ago. Buddy of mine is on the interstate driving, in a truck thank goodness. A semi in front of him his has a 4 X 4 (not a truck) come off the truck. Probably one of those that keep pipe from rolling around. It is coming at him perpendicular, and as he is preparing for the worst; it turns parallel with him and he drives over it safely.

Three years ago there were some teenagers throwing rocks at vehicles at night as they drove past people on a two lane road. They nailed my windshield. Rock went through, I managed to duck slightly and put my hand up. Broke my hand, bruised my face and shoulder, the rock landed in the cargo area of the rover. I ended up being taken by ambulance because I was apparently disoriented and bleeding from cuts. Little a-holes did it to some one else and got caught. They were charged with two counts of attempted murder and are still in jail. I can say it was definitely horrifying and all I kept thinking was that I was glad my kids weren't in the car since the back seat was covered in glass.

Wow, years ago I was driving a Jeep CJ7 on the highway at 55-60 and had a tire tread come off or get kicked up and was coming right for my windscreen... can't swerve in a Heep - hit the brakes as hard as I dared and the jeep slowed just enough for the tire to start going down hill and the edge of it nailed the windshield frame heavy outer hinge and ripped off the mirror.

Pulled over to change my shorts and the 1/2 inch or so gap between upper and lower hinge was FULL of rubber, just jammed in and left it solidly in there. Scary.

I've always wandered why retreads are legal when they are such hazards....... I see some pretty big treads laying on the highway and always wandered what would happen if.....

They are VERY often not retreads - even virgin rubber does it, it's just what happens when they are run low on pressure and/or overloaded.

Last time driving through Alabama, the Interstate breakdown lanes were literally covered with rubber pieces, large and small. I figured you could fuel a good-sized powerplant with tire detritus. Add summertime heat to the above equation and 'bama seems to be where truck tires go to die.

One almost got me: hot summer day and I was driving the 88" with the door tops off. (Is there any vehicle colder in the winter or hotter in the summer than a Series Rover? :p ) The rear-most tires of a passing 18 wheeler were right opposite the driver's side when one let loose like a cannon shot.

No real damage, except to heart and sphincter muscles...and the tire. Had to pull over right quick to verify that....
