Perhaps I used too strong a word.

As I've said before, Kyle could be kind in a one-on-one setting but behind a keyboard he was far worse than Chapman.

Kyle sent me parts and refused payment and then a week or so later, banned me. I was confused. Gave me Hell for not buying a bumper from him-when he loudly stated he wouldn't ship!

Yes, he did not know how to run a business. As for his online social skills - well - I'm not going to go there..... :smilelol:

What fun DWeb would be if--just for one week--we could have all of the cast of characters from days gone back here, posting. KVT, Tony Simoneau, Xtreme Marine, Steve Young, badfysh, Netjaws, Lifted Freelander...I'm surely missing a few dozen.
Badfysh posts on one of the other forums.

The Police should really see that email or PM, whichever it was. That's pretty damming.
As if your wife being missing for 3 years and never reporting it, saying she's in HI preparing a new house (or in Japan visiting sick parents, depending on who you ask), yet claiming you miss her, isn't damning enough?

I totally agree, in general conversation it's an open and closed case.
If the DA decided to prosecute they'd want all the information they could get their hands on.

This has me scratching my head as well. With all the cases lately where the prosecutor has dropped the ball I'm wondering if this might be the case here. We've had some real winners let go to walk the streets another day lately.

He sure could and would come across pretty harsh. But if you had a skin thick enough not to take his shit personally, you could get some very good technical advice.

Well...it's quite damning, and I honestly can't think of any reason he would do what he's done if he didn't kill her, or was directly involved, but it's just circumstantial. Arresting him now might just reveal part of their play book to his lawyer. Hopefully they'll find concrete proof soon.

Harsh is fine. I'm fairly blunt about things and I like it when people don't beat around the bush.

His problem was that he took customer's cash and used that cash to capitalize his business. That usually doesn't work so well, as we all found out.

There's no question in retrospect that his business was a Ponzi scheme; however, I don't think it was planned that way from the beginning.

I'm not going to argue with that. While not knowing all the details, I am guessing that there was no business plan, and that there was not enough startup cash to fill the first orders and whatever other overhead he had. Then it just went into a downward spiral from there. Like I said earlier, Kyle was good with his hands and knew a lot about cars, but I don't think he had any business skills.

Right. I guess the DA feels that at this time there are too many unanswered questions that a good defense attorney can use to create enough reasonable doubt for his client. But there is no statute of limitation on murder, so we'll see what the future brings.

I used to chat with Kyle quite a bit in the early days of Dweb. I never got the sense that he was someone who was looking to rip people off. I think the business just got away from him, and like you wrote, it went into a downward spiral. It's too bad, really; he was a great contribution to the board.

Axel,

I'm sure you'll do the right thing whatever that may be. One of the reasons I gave up on running my own BBS long ago.

Add, can I still click to donate?

Mike;

I don't think that he was intentionally out to rip anyone off, either. He also would bend over backwards to help you out with your truck. He installed both my lockers for example, never wanted a dime for it, and did a great job, too. Those lockers and gears are going on 10 years without a hitch now.

What he didn't realize unfortunately, is that the game changes once you accept money for something. It's a shame, really.
