Any of you guys ever owned an Isuzu Trooper? I'm considering picking up a '98-'02 so I'm not vehicle-less when the D2 is broken. I'm mainly wondering about reliability. I've heard they are pretty reliable and see a lot of them on the road (especially for a vehicle that hasn't been made in 8 years), but don't know anyone that has actually owned one (except for the older ones). Anyways, any of you guys know if they suck to work on or anything?

I had a 95 trooper prior to getting my d2. I absolutely loved the vehicle. It was a 4x4 and 5 speed. It is a great rugged truck that is easy to work on. I am not sure about the "newer" model though. But for what it is worth I loved my Trooper!

Every one that I've had experience with has lasted a LOOOONG time.
I had a girlfriend that had one that lasted 250k and was still running strong.

watch the later model ones for head gasket probs. I have a freind in Indy that has owned a Trooper for over ten years and it is holding up well....

Isuzus do well long term, mine did. Matt at Independent4x has been modding these trucks for a long time, nice guy as well. He is into Rovers a little as well.

I had an 86 that the body lost out before the engine and a 92 that was great also. All in all I think Isuzu put out a quality product for reasonable money.

Had a 86 4 door that I loved that truck could go damn near anywhere but I am sure one that age would be few a far between to find in decent condition. It had an anemic 4 cyl but it got the job done.
