Yeah, I think the Ranch Rifle name is what they gave to the newer models that are out now. They have better harmonics in the barrel, and something about the receiver was modified. The stocks are now synthetic and aluminum.

But getting a new stock and hand guard and pistol grip and magazine etc.... is very easy to do. The gun breaks down very easily and those things can be swapped in seconds.

I'm getting my ammo for about $.40 per round, which is not super, but much better than my last rifle. A bolt .308 that cost $.75 - $1.00 per round. And like I said, it is much more fun. I shoots very nicely. I put 30 rounds through it without feeling a thing on my shoulder after.

Back in the day, they made a variant everyone called "The Rancher." It was a little shorter in the barrel and only came with the wood stock. I have a pre-ban SS Rancher. It is pretty sweet.

Not as sexy as an AR, but not as poseur either. I almost sprung for an AR, but I know too many people who've actually earned one to just randomly buy one for myself. I may get an aluminium hand guard, and I'll need at least a 10 round magazine. This is an early model that can take 5.56 or .223. Very fun to shoot!

What's 'poseur' about an AR, other than EVERY fat guy wanna-be has one with $2K glass, forward grips, Surefires, bipods, bells, cameras, slingshot attachments, coffee pot, etc? I have an AR, but I've also used them in my line of work for the past 15 yrs.

Nice gun though man; I've been looking at getting one for myself for a while, but I just bought a Henry Big Boy in .44 MAG.

Nice rifle...and hits me at a time where I've been considering one too so is unhelpful for my wallet! In all seriousness, I wanted another 5.56mm/223 rifle as a companion to my AR that had a wood stock and different feel. Not to mention I had one a long time ago, sold it, and have regretted it since.

Great snag.
