Tales from the Disco Mike

I was on that forum when the server went awol and the inmates took it over for a few days, even got rebadged as a Moderator :)

The problem with that place is that it is a money-spinning site, nothing else. Too many shady people behind it and no real enthusiasts.

I'm still registered on there and go back once a year to remind myself how bad it was/is.

Sometimes being on that forum is like walking on glass. Mike can be pretty helpful sometimes. I too think the pm and number thing is weird. I also don't like how his solution to most problems is to replace everything. Though he has been getting better at that. I usually ignore him if I find his advice insulting or over the top. There are a lot of great people on that forum however. Guys like Spike and Savannah Buzz are true Rover God's.

Mike is a egotistical Dick head and can eat a d--k for all I care. Helpful? Never had any positive things to say about him, never will. I like how in his signature it lists pt schram or drillbit for parts and I only really see them on this forum! Which we are all so glad we have them here!!!

I'd be really careful about that. You may think he's helpful because he's giving you an answer to something you don't know. But the likelihood of that answer being correct or the best way to accomplish the repair (unless it's something glaringly obvious that can be easily searched for) is quite hit or miss.

The basic issue is that he can't troubleshoot. He was 1.) a service writer for an LR dealership. Not a mechanic. He dances around this fact and 2.) he has fundamental misconceptions about basic things that cause any diagnostic deduction of his to be wrong. My favorites are things like the bores of the 4.6 being larger and the liners being glued in. He also doesn't understand the different between coolants or why they were made differently. Or how to interpret a leak down test.

If you really look at his posts, they are nothing more than parroting of the same 5 or 6 facts over and over again, with the rest being dubious advice at best and incorrect "facts" at worst.

So I got into a debate with Mike and was told it is my way here or the highway what a doushe bag.
I posted this on his forum and boy did that chap his ass lmfao anyway I broke zero rules of the forum and he "BANNED" me for life so I called internet brands and had a talk with Nolan the manager of that forum boy was he pissed about this also he wants to hear from all of you about how you were banned from that forum with unjust cause I was re-activated instantly and poor Mike is going to have a fricking meltdown for sure now.

Dear Mike...

You really told him. Congratulations! How does it feel to win a fight with a retard?

Thanks, It feels good, to have internet brands to override his decision to ban someone for being completely honest with him and hurting his feelings. Mikes help is spend money and replace parts instead of address the problem.

One thing I think Mike does is he doesn't give the aluminum blocks (especially the 4.6 motor) enough credit. Yes by in large I know that it is a pos, mainly because I personally think LR just makes shitty gaskets and seals and runs garbage dexcool. However if someone reports a slight overheat on the forums Mike will immediately suggest that the heads are warped and that you are out $2,000 grand. He scares people into major repairs.

Sorry but that is just BS I've read too many stories of guys just slapping on new head gaskets in the parking lot and driving off into the sunset. I will not lie I have overheated a few times, only once did it get to the red line. I don't give a shit though if I have a slipped liner, the motor is not worth that to fix. Most report that the tick is more of a nuisance than an actual issue.

Exactly if you brought it home from the dealer new and tore it all down and put new gaskets and seals from top to bottom you would be able to run for a very long time before having any issue. It's bad seals and gasket from the very beginning that lead to all the problems we have.

I don't know of discomike , but he does sounds like a chump. I'm not surprised that many of those complaining of being banned were banned, based on their persona's here on discoweb. Most recently KC disco guy has shown up on discoweb and been fairly annoying with dubious advice himself. Wouldn't mind if they unbanned him and he went back to LRO.

First off: I am not offended by your dubious comment. Second: I have not steered anyone in the wrong direction with any advice or possible causes and symptoms I have posted. Third: if you don't like the fact that I am here that's just too Damn bad for you. Fourth I was never banned from LRO. Finally if you don't have anything nice to say then plug it i have not disrespected you in any way what so ever.

Ps. Happy 4th of july

Narcissistic personality disorder symptoms may include:

Believing that you're better than others

Fantasizing about power, success and attractiveness

Exaggerating your achievements or talents

Expecting constant praise and admiration

Believing that you're special and acting accordingly

Failing to recognize other people's emotions and feelings

Expecting others to go along with your ideas and plans

Taking advantage of others

Expressing disdain for those you feel are inferior

Being jealous of others

Believing that others are jealous of you

Trouble keeping healthy relationships

Setting unrealistic goals

Being easily hurt and rejected

Having a fragile self-esteem

Appearing as tough-minded or unemotional[/quote] This definitely applies to what little I have had to do with discomike on landroverforums and seen of his posts to others. Thinks he is Godlike for sure. Also applies to the retarded VP of my local jeep club I am a member of whom many of us would like to ban from our club. Has an off road shop that has become well known for screwing up 4x4 vehicles of all makes big time including my rover. A total dickhead Godlike character whom thinks our local club is his own private fiefdom. His club days are numbered though and maybe his shop too. Both of these two characters have your all your disorder symptoms. Me, I only have a few of these symptoms............................. or 5-6 or 10 or all maybe. But that's OK as I really am a divine Deity as so many so many on this site and others mistakenly think they are. Ok, I just your average dumb ass. We all like to think we have divine thinking but D-Mike carries it to an extreme.

And we enjoy making fun of foreigners! Allow me to sing my favorite Barmy Army hymn about the Australian cricket team, to the tune of The Beatles' "Yellow Submarine":

In the town where I was born
There was a man who was a thief
And he told us of his life
Of stealing bread and shagging sheep.

So they put him in the dock
And the magistrate he went to see
Who said "Put him on a ship...
to the convict colony!"

You all live in a convict colony,
a convict colony,
a convict colony.

etc.

Australia, Australia, we love you!

Haha I love it! I'm also impressed that in the US you know what a Magistrate is ;) same applies for cricket.... You do know that the helmets are not for players to run into each other while carrying the undersized football...?

If it's one of thing Aussies are good at its taking the piss out of ourselves. Happy to join in when others do it with style.

Cheers mate

Scott, in Aussie speak I am what you would call a pom who grew up in Zimbabwe playing cricket (and riding around in a 1977 SIII 109), so not quite the usual reference point for Americans. I always cheer for whoever is playing against England, though, with the only exception being during the Ashes. But the Proteas are my favorite team and I support the Springboks exclusively.

The Ashes start July 10 this year. I'll offer you a wager: if England win the test series, you send me a t-shirt with some Australian Land Rover theme. If your blokes win I send you a t-shirt with a local Land Rover theme. If the test series is drawn then the outcome of the ODI series determines the winner. If that is also drawn, then we can just trade rude song lyrics. Bonus: if the test series is a whitewash, the loser must send a bottle of local beer along with the t-shirt. Are you game?
