About a month ago my son noticed the carpet on the passenger side of my DII was wet. I checked and it was coming in from the AC. I found the nipple underneath, and yes it was clogged. A whole bunch of water drained. I then started trying to dry the carpet with a hair dryer. Did this for several hours/days. I've left the windows and sunroof open every day it hasn't rained. I still have water under the carpet. The top feels dry to the touch but I can hear it squishing.

What can I do short of ripping the carpet up?

Unfortunatly that is the answer. I suppose you could pull the trim strip at the bottom and stuff some towls under there.

Bummer, I had the same problem in the spring. The carpet pad is so thick I couldn't get it dry. I took it to friend's body shop to have them take it out. You have to remove the seats, console, amp and other crap on 04's to get it out. I doubt it will dry any other way.

I wonder if you can leave the nipples off to avoid the problem in the future- as long as you're not fording?

Good Luck..................

Oh yeah, check driver's side also- both were wet on mine.

it needs

SUN
AIR
DRAIN HOLE(S)

1-put it in warm sunny dry weather
2-use a fan aimed at the area
3-drill a small drain hole(s) at lowest portion of floor pan, you can reseal with a grommet plug from NAPA or your local parts stor or keep it under a 1/4 and some spray paint & silicone will do fine

I have used a carpet steamer and solvent to get the mold and detritus out

dont ignore it or it can wreak havoc on floorboards with moisture and time..btw is it just COINCIDENCE that your username is PUDDLE pirate? thats just funny:rofl:

I was a really smart guy and left the rear sunroof open for 4 days while I was away. It rained all 4 days, and the Disco was parked on an incline, nose down. The entire carpet was saturated, as well as the rear seat foam.

After trying to dry it with the shop vac and towels and the A/C, I was having no luck. I finally pulled the whole interior apart to get it to all dry. There is no other way to really get it dry as no air can get to the foam under the carpet that is holding all the water, which will make the car smell badly and fog the windows in the rain.

In your case, as only the right front was wet, you can take out only the right front carpet, as the carpet in the DII is in sections, much to my happy surprise.

Just unbolt the seat and the center console and take out the RF carpet and leave it out in the sun for a few days and you'll be fine. It's not nearly as bad as taking out the whole interior.

Well it looks like I'll be pulling the carpet today. I tryed to get the black trim off the edge and it won't come up. Are there screws somewhere that I'm missing?

Yup found the center strip. Too bad it was after I snapped all the plastic tabs.

Thanks to everyone for all the input. I have the edge of the carpet lifted with a fan blowing. I think I got it before things got too bad under there.
