I'm considering a move to Yakima, WA. This would take place within the next 2 years.

Anyone live in the area...?

Aaaahhh sweet yaki-vegas!!! I hear costco has a sweet azz call center there...

no, really, why there? If you do go there the only good thing going for Yakima is miner burger which is pretty much the only reason to stop on the way to seattle. It used to be referred to as the "Palm Springs of WA"...not so much anymore, not so much indeed.

Shoot, the Wenatchee area is the place to live in eastern Washington! But you had better be good with a wrench. I've called around to junk yards all over this side of the state. Not a single D1...anywhere. Columbia Rovers has a shop in Yakima (great service).

Seriously though, what would take you there?

I really haven't spent much time there at all. My sister lives there and has offered to basically give me 4 acres. It's actually up on the hill in Selah, across the bridge.

She owes the restaurant Sage and a few other things in town. I'm really just seeing what others think of the place...

Nah, but I love the NorthWest. I mean, it can't be worse than Redding, right?

Yakima is just like Redding except that you aren't next to Mt Shasta and you can't buy booze at the local grocery store...

Selah is a cool place. Def. pretty much all farmland out that way. The Yakima river is pretty fun when the water is high, cost of living is probably cheaper than living in UT (at least it was when I was in the tri-cities, +-1 hour east) From there you can get into some great hiking/camping/4 wheeling. If you're into fishing there are some good salmon and steelhead runs too as well as great bass in the valley lakes/irrigation ponds. I spent most of my time east of Yak on the Columbia/Snake rivers. All in all cool region, wish I could find my way back out there. good luck

Must not be anything like their portland location then.
