03 D2 I started it up to let it warm up. Turned off checked oil put oil in and when I went to start it cranked once and was dead.
The battery and starter were replaced in November. I have power at the battery, fuse box and alt. Grounds and power cables are good nothing loose.
I unhooked the battery and the dome lite came on and about a half a crank and no power and no dome light.
I checked fuses under the dash nothing blown the inertia switch is good.
Its just dead in the water.
Am I missing something that needs to be checked? I've had this truck for 15 years and first time its done anything like this.

Alternator was rebuilt about 6 years ago. It’s a deep cycle battery that I use to run my fridge. It the alternator went bad the truck should still start off the battery wouldn’t it.
I’ll try jumping it off and see if that works

Had the battery tested and it tested good and is showing charged. Im going to have them charge it over night. I also put another battery in it and the dash lights lit up but it didnt have enough to crank. The other battery wouldn't even do that.

I read you changed out your starter back in November my thought is if your battery is good then you could have a starter drag problem. Maybe smack the case of the starter with hammer see if it frees up.

Do you hear the starter solenoid click when you try and crank it? My 04 just did that and left me stranded at the gym. The hammer truck didn’t work. Apparently, it only works when I smack other peoples starters. Lol. Towed it home. Jumped it and it started. Pulled it in the driveway and then nothing again. Ha! Changed the battery and nothing. 8( Pulled the starter off a Rover/ storage closet in the garage and now it starts better than it ever did.

Theirs no power to anything. The dome light isn’t getting power. It would turn over once and the juice was gone.
All grounds are linked together under the hood.
so with the truck cranking once I don’t think it’s the starter.
The dash lit up when I put a battery from my camper in but it didn’t have enough to turn the starter. The other battery wouldn’t light up the dash.
it’s just hard for me to believe the battery died completely in less than 30 minutes especially an AGM battery.

I would start looking at tryout fuse box under the hood and make sure you aren’t loosing power somewhere in there. Then move on to the fuse box under the dash. Not really looking for blown fuses more for a bad / corroded/ broken connections.

A multi/ ohm meter would be helpful if you know how to use it. You could disconnect the battery and start testing from the positive battery clamp to the fuse box then each section in there and so on.

Sorry. Then the same with the negative side of you don’t find anything on the positive. It’s probably going to be one of the larger feeds.

Going to start with getting it started then take it to see if it’s charging and go from there. It’s most likely something simple just given the time frame.

To start with get yourself a decent charger/starter and a multi-meter. Those are just must haves IMO.

Look for corrosion and make sure your grounds are clean. Like take them apart and clean them.

If your fairly new battery became so weak as to not be able to start the truck, your alternator is suspect.

In my situation alternator less than a year old and new AGM battery. There is a drain somewhere while running and the culprit most feel is the + cable from battery to starter. The battery isn’t getting the full output of the alternator. While mine is a ‘94 RRC might be something to consider in your review.

He just needs you to get your truck to the shop so you can tell him what the fix is! 😎
