Son had an accident and car landed on it's side. Drivers door handle is mangled. I'm buying a used door handle. Is there a way to transfer the lock mechanism to the new handle?
I apologize. Which thread? Thank you for the help. This thread of mine was for a different purpose, but if you read through it the information is there to enable you to remove the lock cylinder from the two door handles and install the old cylinder into the donor handle, preserving use of the old key. Go to post #13.
If I were you going that far, I would douse the lock cylinder with carb cleaner to clean it up and then spray it liberally with silicone lube before reassembling. Good luck!
removed circlip and washer and the have key in barrel and it will not come out. Even tried banging it with a hammer.Hi, yes, you only need to remove a circlip in order to loose barrel from handle, and bring old cilynder with connection bar to new handle, with key inserted in the barrel. Prior to this you have ho remove handle black cap.
My problem was, a thiev that intended to open with commonly named "scissors" but these barrels are designed to break in their middle when forced. So, i was forced to change my key combination from original broken barrel, to another used barrel. It did work. Now it is looking and working as new. To lube i suggest only dry grafhite powder. For all key barrels!
Regards
Nevermind I pulled the plastic cover off and it came right out.removed circlip and washer and the have key in barrel and it will not come out. Even tried banging it with a hammer.
