Quite the opposite. The traction control worked very well in those conditions.
Works, until you have an electrical issue. which on these trucks is often. I wouldnt trust an LR3 in the back country. I dont want the cars computer deciding whats best.

Some Discos even had a distributor.
I probably did some stoopid water crossings up @ Harisonburg way back but my starter and alternator never failed...at least not right away.

You know what I mean... Im not talking about the basics like a starter and alt. Im talking about all the "trickery" the LR3 has to use in order to be capable.
Call me old fashioned, but I prefer mechanical operation vs electrical when it comes to off-roading.
I prefer reliability, which is something all pre-'06 Land Rovers lack.
