I'm pretty sure Disco's came standard with a starter and alternator...

Some Discos even had a distributor.

I probably did some stoopid water crossings up @ Harisonburg way back but my starter and alternator never failed...at least not right away.

The starter in my LR3 failed without even getting wet. Sometimes they just go bad. Might have been a coincidence. Mine was burned contacts inside the solenoid.

You know what I mean... Im not talking about the basics like a starter and alt. Im talking about all the "trickery" the LR3 has to use in order to be capable.

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer mechanical operation vs electrical when it comes to off-roading.

Are the LR3 diff's not mechanical?

Who said anything about diffs? But ok sure.. So how does the LR3 engage its 4wheel drive? Versus a D1,D2,90..etc??

Now how about the ride height? My D2 stays about the same height no matter what thanks to these fancy things called springs.
I believe the LR3 uses what? air bags a compressor and a computer.

You tell me which is more reliable? Actually dont tell me, because I honestly dont care about your opinion.

At winter green we played a very little on some rocks. Nothing that would make you proud. Yet ...

I prefer reliability, which is something all pre-'06 Land Rovers lack.
