In the last few years Audi's have been MUCH MUCH better in terms of reliability. Best of all the German makes recently.

Best place to check would be the A4 forum over on Audiworld.com. From personal experience (have had 2 A4's and currently an A6), they're great, trouble free, fun cars to own. Plus, the 1.8T is easy to "chip" which really gives it a kick in the pants.
