If you go the LS route, I know of a manual 6.0 LS D2 getting finished up currently that used a partial Alternative Conversion engineering kit for the mounts, accessories, and electrical bits along with a DCS LT230 adapter for the NV4500 transmission. I believe the owner did the swap himself...
