I had that problem on my 95 disco. It is the IAC valve (also known as the stepper motor) located at the back of the plenum chamber. Remove it and hose it down with carb cleaner. When you say lower the glove box, do you mean removing the glove box or the card that covers the footwell? PS My 95 Disco just developed the same issue.

What happens is the nylon guide on hte window regulator breaks and the scissor arm that raises and lowers the window comes out of the rail attached to the bottom of the glass. Since you have the collant at 'boiling point' then you wil ldefinately get air into the system., It is possible that you have an airlock somewhere but the air and water sound is probably because the coolant is 'evaporating' thus you will end up with low levels and air circulating in the system...

Andrew, I've not looked at the top of the tank yet. Will pull the carpet this weekend and have a look at the seals around the fuel pump. It's not been that hot recently, although it was during July, but everything was fine. I've just noticed it really bad once, and again slightly last night.
