I replaced mine and it was an easy job. Definitely repack the bearings while you're doing it. The only snag was getting the rusted rotor of the wheel hub. A one pound sledge and some aggression work fine for me. John

Think my vehicle speed sensor may be checking out. Can I by pass it to see if the truck runs smoothly or must it be connected. Just replaced it less than 10k ago and don't want to just buy another one until i'm sure its the cause. Speedo keeps fluttering and spiking and engine runs rough...

Thanks Neil, I changed the speed sensor about a year ago. I'll check that out as I may have a bad connection at the sensor. Hopefully it didn't go bad again in only 10k miles but I guess it may have.

can anyone tell me what 'powers' the speedo? Maybe I can start checking there to see if I have some kind of short. Very strange to me that the speedo is doing this and not the tachometer. I'll check the battery leads, tach etc but am still looking for input from the great minds of this site...

replaced speed sensor less than 10k miles ago when I couldn't get the truck to run over 55 miles per hour. That was a differnet stuttering, like a governer on the engine. This stuttering is like it is being fuel starved at different ranges in the rpm's. Don't remember speedo acrting...

installed new alt. last year so hopefully thats not the problem. Didn't know alt had anything to do with speedo. I know when it was going bad, the tach was acting funny then went out.
