While converting to coil springs in my 06 Rover HSE, I noticed some oil on the front-right strut when pulling off the air bag. Now I hear a heavy, clunky rattle that appears to be coming from the front-right when going over slight bumps slow speed. This wasn't happening before the conversion. I...
So, I got the manifolds back together, torqued correctly with the swivel socket to 38 lbs on the lower intake, and 16 lbs on the upper. It runs just fine! Sounds good -- nice and quiet. Problem solved. Now all I've got to do is turn off the SRS light and extinguish "the 3 amigos," which started...
Right now, I'm using a 13mm six-point swivel socket and it seems to be working. If I were to remove the fuel rail, does it come off of the injectors or do the injectors and the whole show come off?
The refit section of the manual shows the fuel rail still installed, but then you can't get to the rear gasket clamp bolt because it's directly beneath the fuel inlet pipe. Removing the fuel rail sounds like a whole new project that I'm really not into. Hopefully, I can get the manifold evenly...
I got the manifold off, but if I don't remove the fuel rail I won't be able to torque the bolts. The guy who did this before didn't and that's why the bolts were so loose when I took it off. Is there a special trick to get fuel rail off the manifold? I'm afraid to just start yanking and wreck...
I have some Dirko gray sealant that worked fine on the throttle body gasket, and a good upper plenum gasket that was used briefly. I'll try to find new bolts to have in hand before I tear this apart again.
One other thing, do I need to replace the bolts in the lower manifold when I do that? I believe they need to be torqued to 38 lbs if I remember correctly...
Thank you again for the advice. I'll get the gaskets together this week and dig deeper next weekend, stick in a new valley gasket and post the results. I've been in there so many times now that it shouldn't be hard to figure out. I'm kicking myself in the butt for wasting so much money on a...
Thanks for the response. The very first thing I did to figure this out was buy a stethoscope, but I've been unable to pinpoint the source of the noise. Today, I sprayed it with water but got no response. I can't believe it's not a vacuum leak but can't afford to take it in to another mechanic...
My ‘02 Discovery II SE has a very loud, high pitched screaming noise coming from somewhere on top of the engine. It started about 10 months ago, intermittently, but gradually got worse. It goes away when I hit the throttle but comes back at idle. Sounds like a vacuum leak but it’s coming from...
