If I turn the key on rapidly, I get a short pulse of electricity to the starter before the alarm kicks in and shuts me down. To be clear, my alarm system is acting crazy. It makes strange half-hearted chirping sounds with the key in Acc. pos, and the alarm sounds with the key in the On pos.

So, since my '99 is in fact a DI, does that mean I have the "Spider" nonsense I'm reading about on my car? Could the power locks have lost their ground, or perhaps suffered damage during my cold-start sessions?

How do I disable the imoboliser?

To recap: It is a DI- vin reads "SALJ...", and the door handles are the inset, rectangular type mentioned earlier.

Have a hard starting issue when the temp drops that is new this winter. As a result, I've run the battery down a few times. The power locks have locked themselves a couple of times as the battery ran down during extended "cranking" of the engine. Now, the power locks have stopped working...

I assume it is a DI, but I don't know for certain. How can I tell which it is?

99 Discovery SD- the electric locks have stopped working, and now I can't seem to disable the security system. The car will not start, and the alarm goes off when I try. How can I disable the security system, I really don't need it?!?
