1999 Disco Series I- Bypassed Alarm, Starter Now Cranks but No Spark

Will check the fuel relay- if nothing else it will be good to know where it is (never had a no fuel issue, knock on wood!!!). Made a positive ID on the pair of wires I cut/spliced- both by color and pinout on the connector at the alarm control unit. I may have mis-stated the colors above (is it...

1999 Disco Series I- Bypassed Alarm, Starter Now Cranks but No Spark

Ah yes, the cargo door. I am aware of that one, lol! Tried that already. No luck. Is there a way to check the crank position sensor without replacing it? Here's something new- the rear windows and rear sunroof don't operate now- seems like I could hear a relay when pressing the window...

1999 Disco Series I- Bypassed Alarm, Starter Now Cranks but No Spark

So I've just dusted off my 1999 Land Rover Discovery- Series I with the dreaded alarm interrupt/no power to the starter motor problem. I just bypassed the alarm system thanks to a post I found here- cut and spliced the 2 black/orange wires on the green alarm control module located under the dash...

'99 Disco Security System has Disabled the Ignition- Elec Door Locks Inopperable

Sorry for the lack of response- out of touch for the last few days... It's not the battery. The battery is good. I am able to start the car, and have even put my wife back in it (it is her car, after all). And to those that have posted regarding holding the key in the door lock until the...

'99 Disco Security System has Disabled the Ignition- Elec Door Locks Inopperable

Battery is good, I've just run it down and had to charge it a lot this winter. THe key-fob is dead, I have it but it is damaged. And nothing I've tried has been successful at getting the power locks to work. As you know, the driver's door lock is supposed to lock/unlock the entire vehicle and...

'99 Disco Security System has Disabled the Ignition- Elec Door Locks Inopperable

Correction, the sound stops in the accessory position. It sort of chirps when I open the car, stops in the acc. position, and blasts like I stole it in the On pos...

'99 Disco Security System has Disabled the Ignition- Elec Door Locks Inopperable

If I turn the key on rapidly, I get a short pulse of electricity to the starter before the alarm kicks in and shuts me down. To be clear, my alarm system is acting crazy. It makes strange half-hearted chirping sounds with the key in Acc. pos, and the alarm sounds with the key in the On pos.

'99 Disco Security System has Disabled the Ignition- Elec Door Locks Inopperable

So, since my '99 is in fact a DI, does that mean I have the "Spider" nonsense I'm reading about on my car? Could the power locks have lost their ground, or perhaps suffered damage during my cold-start sessions?

'99 Disco Security System has Disabled the Ignition- Elec Door Locks Inopperable

To recap: It is a DI- vin reads "SALJ...", and the door handles are the inset, rectangular type mentioned earlier.

'99 Disco Security System has Disabled the Ignition- Elec Door Locks Inopperable

Have a hard starting issue when the temp drops that is new this winter. As a result, I've run the battery down a few times. The power locks have locked themselves a couple of times as the battery ran down during extended "cranking" of the engine. Now, the power locks have stopped working...

'99 Disco Security System has Disabled the Ignition- Elec Door Locks Inopperable

I assume it is a DI, but I don't know for certain. How can I tell which it is?

'99 Disco Security System has Disabled the Ignition- Elec Door Locks Inopperable

99 Discovery SD- the electric locks have stopped working, and now I can't seem to disable the security system. The car will not start, and the alarm goes off when I try. How can I disable the security system, I really don't need it?!?
