1996 Discovery new battery won't start

Turns out it was the connection from the positive lead to the fuse box in the engine compartment. The vehicle starts up and drives. Thank you for all the help!

1996 Discovery new battery won't start

Sorry for checking back in later. Tugela - I replaced the battery cables because they were very brittle. The negative cable where it was ground against the frame had a lot of corrosion and the positive was very stiff and made some crackling noises when it was moved. Decided to replace them...

1996 Discovery new battery won't start

Problem: While driving the battery light came on the dash. Drove it to autozone to have the old battery checked. Battery was bad so I purchased a new one. Dropped it into the vehicle and now my car won't start. By not starting I mean nothing on the dash lights up, the fuel pump cannot be heard...

    Poor MPG follow on

Could this be an old fuel pressure regulator? I bought stu454's Discovery 1 back in October and had a very similar issue. My LTFT values were starting to get really high and the mpg dropped. At first I tried replacing spark plugs, wires, fuel filter and eventually the fuel pump. Went to a local...

    96' Discovery with two codes

Checked the fuel pressure to see if dropped as stated below and it didn't plummet at all. However, the readings on the gauge were double what the pressure should be. Perhaps the misfire readings on both banks? Blew out the return fuel line and replaced the fuel pressure regulator with a new one...

    96' Discovery with two codes

I did some deep searching of the forum thank you. Small update: Took the vehicle to an independent repair shop. Had all of the vacuum lines checked and smoke tested. No leaks. They have a proper obd2 that reported a misfire in both banks and now only a lean code. They reported that the O2...

    96' Discovery with two codes

*Update: Early yesterday morning started the car up and I could smell gas. The smell was pretty over powering. I checked everywhere and could not find gas leaking out of any of the fuel lines. The check engine light came back on and the codes were same as before. (p1176, p1179) In the...
