I thought we established in that last thread that this sort of thing is indicative of badly-worn bearing pins. Your suggestion - does it mean that an alignment will actually ease the strain on the pins and put off replacing them a bit longer?

Is the alternator they sold you constructed of plastic, kind of wrinkly and have GORTONS stenciled on the side? If so you've been gypped, and actually bought a bag of fish sticks. Fish sticks have proven to be very ineffective at keeping your Land Rover's battery charged.
