To open I used a set of snap ring pliers. Open the blade and insert pliers in the opening under the blade, it will pop open with a bit of effort.

I have removed all the ACE parts from my disco. I have the pump, valve block, and both sway bars with actuators. I do not have a use for them so if you need any or all of the ACE parts let me know, FREE! Come by and pick them up in SoCal.

Started the disco in the morning and sounded like a diesel then oil pressure light on. Turned off right away. Pulled the pump and found the outer gear cracked in two places. New pump still have no pressure.

No do you think that could cause it.

The reason I replaced the front cover is because my old pump failed and thought it is better to replace the whole front cover with the pump.

Oh yeah the other thing turned by hand with oil pick up in oil and it pumped it through the front cover but when I put it on I get nothing. Could there be a large pocket of air blocking? I wi try the new filter that is cheap and easy. Thanks.

I can't imagine bad relief valve. Should be new with the cover. I am stumped unless it is a bad new pump.

Yes the filter was prefilled. Oil pick up was clear and tried two different oil pressure switches. Not sure how the gears could be backwards since they come preinstalled in the cover. How do I check if they are backwards?

I am having a problem with no oil pressure. I replaced the pump and front cover on the D2 primed using vasoline and pulling the fuel fuse to crank no start. When I started it the oil pressure light was NOT on then after 5 seconds it lit up and motor started knocking so it was shut down...
