Anyone know if the Autel ML629 has any new features that the AL619 does not have that would be good for the Land Rover Disco 1? Looks like it's about $10 more. ($129.98) TY

    Reset adaptive values

I can't thank this group enough. I hosed my adaptive values by having a broken MAF sensor that broke and fell apart, and driving for a few days with the air filter temp sensor unplugged (because I forgot to plug it back in) and I got the dreaded high idle. Ready to burn this thing to the ground...

Is initial TPS reading of 12.2 correct?

I now have the dreaded high idle issue. 1999 Disco 1 SD After a long battle with grounding and dash Temp guage issues I had everything fixed and running good for about a week. Went out and started disco in morning and high idle. I checked the MAF and it fell apart in my hand. I replaced it...

    Fake overheating?

Picture after cleaning. It was really hard to get solder to take so I had to put quite a bit of heat on the cable. I trimmed back the insulation about 1" on each side of the clamp and re-taped them. Should hold up for a while. The underside of the nut and the post were clean. I didn't need to...

    Fake overheating?

German and Icannap1 THANK YOU !!!!. Yes, it was E100. The bracket was completely loose on the cable and corroded. I've attached a pic. I removed the battery this evening, wire brushed the cable and the clamp and then reattached and soldered the clamp back in place. I re-assembled and removed...

    Fake overheating?

I did clean E109 with no improvement prior to adding the temp ground. I will check E102 and E100. It looks like E100 is different from the battery negative ground to chassis that sits below the battery box? That was the first ground I checked and cleaned?

    Fake overheating?

Icannap1 thank you. I had success, sort of. I used the jumper cable connected to the battery ground and put it in the passenger window, removed the instrument cluster and found the one ground on the top rear of the cluster. I started the disco and let the temp gauge spike and then touched the...

    Fake overheating?

Update: Picked up a used alternator from pull and pay. Checked output voltage and getting 14.01 volts. Dash gauge pegged after driving 15 minutes to NAPA to pick up tail light bulb. Had NAPA check the battery and alternator under load. With all I could turn on electrically, alternator puts out...

    Fake overheating?

Just checked the battery connections, battery to frame, ground strap in driver's kick panel, and ground strap below driver's windshield wiper arm out near the firewall. Did not try running it to get it hot, but I get a "pop" from the radio and it sometimes cuts out when switching the fan from...

    Fake overheating?

I did check the voltage of the alternator and it's putting out 14.04 volts. After shutting off the engine, battery voltage reads 13.32. I may clean the battery terminals just for peace of mind.

    Fake overheating?

Just an update. Also agree electrical and probably a grounding issue. turning headlights on caused temp gauge to spike, turning off it went back to normal. Also noticed with headlights on when stepping on brakes while rolling to stop caused temp gauge to rise also. I could also see the...

    Fake overheating?

Afi, am I checking the voltage output on the alternator, amps or both? I'll put my multi meter on it and test voltage tomorrow. I'd need to pull it and take it to NAPA to have them bench test for amps.

    Fake overheating?

German, am I looking under the dash near the fuse block, or near the driver's kick panel for the grounds? I had a little trouble identifying the grounding block in the pictures. Thanks for your help.
