Gems 4.0 to Gems 4.6 swap

Hi guys. I didn't want to take over the other post and I did do searches but could not find exactly the info I am looking for. I have a 97XD. I just bought a 97 RR 4.6HSE. It is a beautiful truck with 103k on it and runs perfectly. I am in the car buisness and bought it at auction for $2700.00...

    Aux light wattage question

My XD has the factory off road style fog lights on the brush guard. They are H3 bulbs at 55 watt factory. I installed PIAA H3 super white bulbs. They are rated at 55 Watts but put out 110 watts of light. I did one and left the other stock. It was a unreal difference in light. The stock looked...

    Can someone explain LR stupidity???

This is just a way for manufacturers to get out of costly repairs and or replacement of engines. If they say that a quart of oil lossed or used (note: they don't say burned or leaked) during 1,000 miles of driving is normal then that is the end of it. If someone comes in complaining that they...

    XD Factory Fog Light Question

Those of you that have these large factory fog lights with the plastic mesh grills. Have you ever upgraded the bulbs? I have one burned out and thought before I replace it if anyone had suggestions on a upgrade that would be great. Also what bulb is it, so I don't have it torn apart before...

Fuel stabilizer for over winter storage

Stabil is great for the fuel system or Marvel mystery oil. Both work the same. Make sure you change the oil before storage. That way the oil is clean and not contaminated with impurities that can eat into the bearings etc during storage. If it is stored in a damp environment then I suggest one...

    2003 Discovery build date/failure poll

I was at an auction on Wed. there was a 03 there with 144,000 on it. Sounded great. By the looks of the motor it has never been apart. It didn't sell so if they rerun it this week I will check the build date. Kind of off topic and being a series 1 owner. When did they remove the trans dip...

    I hate inspection time

For headlight moisture. One you remove it and blow out the water or use a towel, Then drill one or two very small holes in the bottom to let air circulate and let the water drip out if it continues to leak. Use the tinest bit you have. We do this on cars at the lot all the time. It fixes them...

Birds sitting on roof rack and shitting

When I am not using it everyday I bough a cheap cover to toss over it. Not only keeps the birds off it but keeps the sun out of the inside and keeps the pine needles and sap from my near by pine tree off of it as well. Scott 97XD

    Vigg hood blackout

Yes, The paint will work on your wheels as well. Just make sure you clean them well. If you want them glossy then I suggest Rustolem glossy black. It takes alittle while to completly cure but is very tough once it has hardened. Scott 97XD

    Vigg hood blackout

Yes Antichrist, That is it. It has a very low sheen. Basically like the stock pillars on the disco. It is about as flat as you would want to go. If you use total flat black paint you will usally get an uneven look out of a spray can because of the smaller spray pattern on such a big area. What...

    Vigg hood blackout

The best paint I have used for this application is SEM. You can get it at any good auto paint store. Sprays beautifully and very even. Use their black bumper paint. Just tape off the hood. Hit it with a fine scotch bright pad to scuff the surface, wipe with a prep solvent and then a tack rag...

    Oil consumption seems extreme

Maybe the shop you used never put enough in when they changed it. Just keep an eye on it now and see how much it is using. If it doesn't go down much go back to the shop and let them know. Also how many miles on your truck. If it is alot and they put in light weight oil it might be time to move...
