I would want to know 3.6 vs 4.4 TDI, some pictures of a finished unit and why could you not provide your own 94-99 DI as a base. I live in idaho and it is completely corrosion free and would be a good base for restoration.
Thanks for All of the replies, I really want to keep it on the road. This is my daily driver and I do take it out most every weekend fishing camping or just exploring idaho, nevada and utah. the D1 has been my favorite for many years.
I am going to replace head gasket on my 99 D1 with 181k miles. What else would you suggest i should do. How much more work would it be to replace cam shaft and do valves and springs or timing chain.
Just replced my u joints and she is smooth as silk now but have gad bushings and les Schwab china tires shake her to her core. Pick somthing and fix or maintain it, bushings and ujoints dont last forever.
I have bought some items and he always delivers and gives sound advice. Most of us have an irrational love for our land rovers and Will helps us perpetuate that love.
Most of the 99 D1 models were SD with no sunroof like mine. Paid $1200 for mine like 7 years ago with 115000 miles on it in great shape. The center diff lock was not engaged and they did not know what was wrong with it. Bought it crawled under and lubed mechanism engaged it and drove off.
Looks to be a pretty nice tool for the money and may help me reduce the amount of $$ I spend on my Land Rovers. I usually just keep buying parts until it runs better :-). I did find a shop to reset my adaptive values for $50 I was just guessing that is what it needed (but guessed correctly).
I do have a local shop that also builds custom radiators that I will give a shot before I buy one of Wills units. Giving my 99 D1 SD some love over the next few months. I have decided to drive her for a few more years. I can't explain the un rational love I have for that truck.
Reset adaptive values and all is right in the world with my disco. On to u joint replacement and possible head gasket replace. It will be nice to have my favorite vehicle back on the road.
I have an irrational attachment to my 99 D1 disco and will spend money to get another 10 years out of her. I don't know how people can afford to buy $65k vehicles that depreciate like crazy. I beat mine through the mountains and desert and would probably never take anything that expensive off...
I live in Idaho so 300+ days of sunshine not a lot of moisture in my high desert area. I will check the ECU and call a few more shops to check to see what they use for diagnostic equipment. I was going to replace the temperature sensor just because it is all linked in the mean time I will...
No advanced evap system, haven't checked/taken it in to have codes checked. Runs great outside of erratic idle. this morning 20 degrees started and idled at 650 as it should last night at 41 degrees it started and idled at 2100 rpm but returned to normal after engine warm up.
