If you go the vaseline route then make sure to change your oil after it gets up to temp. On the earlier rovers (diffrent front pump) I always pack them, on the later ones like yours Ive never needed to. They just prime the minute you fire them up. If your unsure of what to do pack the pump then...
How does the rest of your gearbox look? any chipped teeth or really bad bearings or shims?

IF it is not your driveshaft (not saying it isnt). It could very well be your adjustments on your diff. check the coast side of the ring gear aswell as the backlash IF you need to pull your diff.

An easy way to set your dizzy to 180 is to change the number 1 plug wire. So if you have number one pointing at the engine change the numbe one plug wire to the other side of the dizzy and you are now 180 out from where you were

I converted my 93 with a tcase from a 97-98 d1. I only needed a front drive shaft from a disco1 (you could also use a Tom Wood or change it over the a d2 shaft if you want) and one of the tcase mounts from the d1 (i dont remember what side) you will also need the input shaft from the disco...

I would frist check if you have spark coming from coil to the dizzy (i dont know if youve done this yet) if no check wiring to the coil and also remove the dizzy cap and spin the engine to see if the points are...
this one i made is for the front. ill run some beads on it instead of tacks but even then my panard rod is in the way. i may do a sewer cap on the back. i know alot of people are going to those if theyre doin lots of off roading, and i plan on doin alot more off roading.

Ill tack the diff guard on so if I need to get it off at any time it wont be to hard.
