yeah it's the front shocks i need to replace. So can i just jack it up from the normal jack spot? do i need to do anything special like compress the springs? Or is it really just as simple as jacking it up and removing the old one and replacing it?
Where i live there is NO ice ever and only a few days worth of rain. I'm going to pull the fuse for a few days while I look for a used sensor and see how it feels. I might just leave it off.
I plan on selling it at the beginning of 09, so pretty sure I'll want to fix it before than no matter...
two cold soakers, just finished reading the thread you linked, which includes passionate, conflicting arguments.
Since i don't drive offroad much at all, I think I better fix it rather than bypass the abs
sorry, jhmover. I asked the same question again before I saw your reply.
Thanks.
now, assuming this is the correct problem, can anyone tell me if abs sensors are the same as wheel speed sensors?
it definitely STARTS stuttering before my foot reaches the floor.
if I bought your sensors, do you think I (someone with limited mechanical experience) could put them in myself? How difficult compared to say, changing my pads or replacing my fuel pump (both simple tasks i have done myself)
And...
Ok wait, I think I'm describing it wrong. I suppose it IS when my foot goes to the floor. of course my foot goes to the floor when i come to a complete stop from a slow speed.
Sorry about that.
no it only happens when i come to a slow stop at slower speeds. City driving. I specifically asked the mechanic if i could bypass abs and he said no it's impossible.
So what would be the harm if I ditched abs? I've never driven a car without abs, i don't know what it feels like. Just means my...
I took my land rover in to diagnose what i would describe as a stuttering feeling/sound when I brake at low speeds. Mechanic diagnosed as a bad wheel speed sensor and harness on front left wheel. He's quoting me $650+ to fix. Seems high to me, but then again, I'm very poor :o,
could someone...
I replaced a window motor on the front passenger door of my disco and now there's a constant alert/alarm that rings whenever the key is turned on. It continues the entire time the car is on even when driving. It sounds like the beeping that normally sounds when the door is open with the key in...
Thanks guys. I'll be driving it 3 miles from my office to my house today but thats it. I'll get in there and try to do the oil pan pickup thing tonight. Then on monday I'm taking it to a different mechanic to take a look.
Thanks again

The dealer is going to charge me $100 to check my oil pressure and he suggests that I just have him replace the pump. The problem is that it seems he's only going by that noise to decide that the pump is bad. I also forgot to mention this is a disco 1. Does anybody know if low oil pressure would...
I just had my heads reconditioned and my head gaskets replaced by a local european car mechanic. There is a new and very pronounced noise coming from the engine. I had a ticking before, but this is like a deeper, double ticking. It almost sounds like a chugging. and I don't think it speeds up or...
How much for: (seperately)
Oil pump
secondary O2 sensor
Power steering pump
exhaust head pipe (i'm not sure what this part is called, but I need the Y piece cut off in front of the Cats. the part with the flanges ?)
Passenger side seat adjusting. The thing on the side of the cubby box...
The noise is just a clicking sort of noise while the car is idling. It's not loud. I think it's just a lifter. The only reason I don't take it for more opinions is that i can't go around paying $75-$100 for diagnosis. That's why I was asking you guys if it's a good deal.
I have my 97 Disco 1 at a european import shop here in Las Vegas and I want to know if the quote they just gave me is at least reasonable. Keep in mind, I don't have the time or the know-how to do this myself. They want to do a valve job.
Engine head Gasket set
Reconditioned heads

It looks like I'm going to have to replace my engine in my Disco I. I'm considering the possibility of putting in a diesel. Does anybody know how feasable this is? Where can I buy one? Cost? Implications. ETC.
Thanks,
LVpine
Thanks for the help guys.
From here on out, no one drives my disco but me. By the way, i've allready been looking on the classifiedssd section, but if anyone reading this has a used radiator and/or fan for disco I lying around, I'll buy for reasonable price.

Well, I can explain that, I'm the type of guy who keeps his wrenches together in a toolbox but not organized. There must me three or four sets in there just mixed up. The reason I was under the hood yesterday was to replace my belt. I hooked a 15mm up to the tensioner and used any-old-wrench to...
