Going to bring this tread back up. Looking to get back into a rover still. Except now it has a 4 IN lift on it.

I think the stock 4 cyl wranglers are impressive off road, theyre so underpowered they dont start spinning the wheels.

Doesn?t the Jeep inline 6 put out more power and torque than the rover v8? Most Jeeps now adays are coil sprung all the way around too. Permanent 4x4 and low range are only relevant to our 4x4 setup, their center diffs lock too, just in a different fashion. Pretty sure they all have low range.

I think the best hybrid was already made. first gen honda insight. you can get 100 mpg easy, and they run forever. You can also pick them up for under 5 grand.
