Thanks.
My next step is to test for exhaust gas, although I failed to mention above that I replaced the head gaskets as part of my cooling overhaul. Even used ARP studs instead of the TTY bolts.
:banghead: Although I have recently replaced every part associated with the cooling system on my '97 D1, including having the radiator rodded, I am still having overheating issues. To monitor my coolant temps (and other things), I recently bought a wifi OBD-2 connector and downloaded the...
I have a '97 D1 with ~175K miles that I bought brand new. Since it has now become my toy, I decided to overhaul the entire cooling system. As part of the process, I removed the radiator and found/researched a shop that could do any work needed on it. I had already decided, based upon this board...
97 D1 with 170K miles, owned it since it was brand new . . .
:banghead: I recently replaced the heater core and, of course, had to disconnect the A/C lines at the firewall. Everything is reassembled, but now I cannot get the system to accept R134A. It simply will not charge . . . and yes I am...
My starter died, and I just replaced it with a NAPA rebuilt part. It solved the problem. However, there is a slight "shriek" when I turn the key. I remember from many moons ago when I replaced a Chevy starter that this noise meant that I needed to adjust the shims that were required for...
I remember hearing about a tool that can be used to replace the bushings in my 97 D1. However, I can find no evidence of it now. If I remember correctly, it was called the "Bushwacka" or "Bushwacker". Am I crazy?
Late coming into the thread, but . . .
I have a Motive bleeder, and I agree that it does not seal well to the reservoir. It really has never benefited me at all because of this.
 KevinNY, that is so funny!!! I gave my dogs the poly radius arm bushings (the ones that are held on by the big locknut/washer) and they love them. They can throw them around and the bushings bounce in odd directions. My driveway has a slight downhill slope and I can start one rolling...
Remember that synthetic also has a generally lower viscosity when cold, so if you have oil leaks from the main seals or anything, they might be slightly worse.
I am considering having my exhaust manifolds coated by Jet-Hot. I have looked at the posts on this board, but have questions. I tried to call Jet-Hot but got disconnected. Hopefully someone has tried this procedure and can tell me some things:
1) When you ship them your part(s), where do...
The fans come on when the A/C is on, i.e., when the button is pressed. When the A/C is off, the fans are off. If you have power coming to the fans, but they do not work, then they are bad and need to be replaced.
I speak from experience with my '97 D1. I went through all of the processes...
I recently purchased a new set of Michelin LTX M/S for my '97 D1, including a new spare. The only problem was that they only could get tires with the raised white outline lettering. My personal preference is black letter, so I had them turn the tires so the black faced out. Trouble is, the...
I've done this twice. Just keep trying. There is that single magic postion that will let it come out through the top. You do have to use a little force, though. It helps a little to remove the steering shaft sleeve (that silver insulation-looking thing) so you won't tear it.
I just replaced the main bulbs on my '97 D1 with the new Sylvania SilverStar. I can't remember the part number, but these bulbs changed my headlight beams from dull yellow to brilliant blue/white. It was pretty impressive.
I tried to get the reman calipers from Autozone for months. I finally got mad and called their toll-free number only to be told that they were having "vendor" issues. I finally got reman calipers from Advance Auto Parts for about $60US apiece + core. They have performed great with no...
