    Front Diff going bad?

Diff was clean and pinion was tight. It was the driveshaft. Thanks again!

    Front Diff going bad?

Brakes are new and the driveshaft has three serviceable u joints recently lubed, though all worth a double check along with pinion play and shavings. Thanks!

    Front Diff going bad?

Slight grinding noise from the front under load (accelerating or decelerating). Nothing leaking and the diff is not hot to touch after driving. Started two days ago and is progressively getting worse. Is there a sure way to confirm it is indeed the diff before I call Will or Marty?

    4.6 Bosch cam, search anxiety

Apparently that and "what tells the injectors to fire and when".

    4.6 Bosch cam, search anxiety

As the thread is about camshafts, I inferred we were talking about valve timing. Either way, I still take issue with this statement: Different shaped lobes will do exactly what they do without regard to ignition or fuel or whatever "timing" and provide exactly the "benefit" they were designed...

    4.6 Bosch cam, search anxiety

Math and physics are not subject to interpretation. Nor do facts yield to unanswered rhetorical questions. -Brad

    4.6 Bosch cam, search anxiety

I'm sorry but, that's ignorant and lacks rational thought (being succinct rather than mean). The camshaft "cog" must turn exactly half the rate of the crankshaft and it's keyed to go on only one way. Timing values among the various camshaft options are properties of the lobes, their...

Thanks guys. Nice weather if I need to get it from U-Pull too.

    96 D1 5 speed transfer case

No doubt I could find the details by searching but it's nice to see the board more active lately and I wanted to join in. The D1 in question is advertised as needing a transfer case. T-case from an automatic should be easy enough to find. I suspect there are some differences for the 5 speed. Is...

disabling the air suspension 1997 Range Rover

Under the drivers seat. Move the seat back and you'll have easy access. There was a post with pictures and more detail but I can't find that one. Here's one with pictures: http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdetails/airsuspension/fieldrecovery.html However, the jumper in that write up is for...

    Crown Vic

If you can do your own work, buy another Rover. Should be easy enough to have at least one running all the time. If you're in sales with a cheap vehicle, it should be Subaru, Land Rover or Jeep here in CO. Just my opinion. I like the Crown Vic, but don't try to sell me something if that's what...

    Question for Colorado guys

I've lived in both cities, moved from East Texas 20 years ago for the climate. Colorado springs is a bit closer to the mountains than Denver or Fort Collins, which moderates the weather a bit. I'm on the Northeast side of CS at just over 6500 ft. No bugs (no screens on my windows) and use AC...

    D2 lifts

Two D1s, four D2s, two P38s, two RRCs and even a Freelander later, my repair and off road driving skills are increasing. (I'm also getting to know Marty well). With my last P38, I made the biggest strides in both repair and driving skills. I like to keep everything stock, though I do...

    Christo

Chriso's been trying to get approval for years. I understand it is only a temporary (two week) display. I personally don't care for it, but temporary and tourist dollars makes it at least tolerable.

2011 Land Rover National Rally - Aug 2nd-6th, Breckenridge, CO

I don't count as "anybody" on this site, but I'm at the rally. The "resort" aspect and all the shops in Summit county keeps the wife happy between trails. Met the Texas SCARR folks last evening. Really a nice group of people. I've been away from Texas for over 20 years and had almost forgotten...

    Torque Converter Situation

My experience is limited to only 3 swaps but, I've found a short 2x4 between the converter and inspection plate with a couple bolts hand tight keeps it secure until it's close enough to bolt up.
