Ok. I am on a hunting expedition. I am in Dallas, and I am looking for a REASONABLY PRICED mechanic to do a head gasket and valley gasket job. I wanted to do this myself, but I am not sure what can of worms this is goiing to open up, and I am pretty confident I have a slipped sleeve. Finding...
I am wondering about pinning a liner but have some questions. I searched a bit and just did not find as much info as it relates to this.
Here is my back story. This is going to be tackled on my wife's truck. It is not loosing oil, but the coolant is slowly dropping and appears to bubbling...
Ok, I am going to first say that I did a search on this and it would appear that I think there is a great bit of info on this forum about what I THINK is my issue, but I need a little shade tree mechanical help here.
This past weekend I replaced the brake pads on my wife's 2004 d2. I probably...
I will see if I can get a read on it as it was not leaking from there before all this started. It was pouring out on the engine some. My only bug is the fact that it does not leak when it is cool.
Alright. Time for a few quick observations. I am pretty sure our truck is running on the hot side and is still burping fluid out of the res tank. It pools a small bit on the ground right by the pass front tire. I did check the oil and the oil recently and it is nice and clean. I am worried...
So here is a bit of an observation. Tonight I pulled the t-stat. A year of so when the water pump failed I probably should have done that but did not. Anyway I pulled it, flushed the system and then went back at it with a new motorad 180 t stat. I am wondering if the overheat when our water...
Alright. I wil take a look at all this stuff. I will address it all. I am not thinking it is overheating, but getting hotter than it should is a possible.
I am not entirely sure. The fan is not kicking on and the temp gauge is showing to be dead between hot and cold. If I was overheating I would think my temp gauge would be going nuts.
I didn't change the temp sensor though when replacing the water pump recently if that might be impacting the truck.
This is about to drive me nuts. I replaced the hoses on my wife's truck with some thicker more rubber hoses, and I ran the radiator top hose up over the top of the engine zip tied to the much larger radiator hoses by the bleed valve. While replacing the fluid I broke the hose to the TB and...
That helps some but there are comments on how to bleed the system where posts talk about removing the overflow line in order to lift up the reservoir to fill it. (for an 02). That made me thing something is missing on mine.
I did a search for this but could not find much. I think the overflow line of my truck is broken and is actually about 8 inches long. I read where it should be attached to the battery box. Can anyone post a pic of what it is supposed to look like, or at least describe it for me? Thanks.

I sure hope this is an exhaust issue. That liner thing makes me worry. I think the noise is not as metalic as a ticking. I am going to check the exhaust this weekend and see if it is that. Something tells me getting to the exhaust bolts ain't going to be easy.
So now I am stumped. Did all this stuff above and the truck was definitely quieter until today. This morning I drove it in to work and when I got the office I opened the door before turning the truck of, and I noticed a much more audible, much louder ticking noise. I did not hit the gas to...
Those air kits sure do make me nervous. When we were buying our truck I test drove an 03 that had air ride. As I drove it I realized I was looking more and more up in teh sky and less on the road. As I pulled the LR lowrider into the dealers lot he started begging me to take it. He started...
