You can dye leather, but unless you are an experienced upholstry shop I wouldnt advise it. The correct process involves chemically treating the leather to loosen the tanning cure on the dye thats there, then you effectively re-dye and tan the leather. Ive seen one step kits but they always end...
I will have to go over and take one, and I dont expect to be there for a week now. Its apart for winter mods and maint at the moment. I may have accidentally gotten a pic of that area before, so I'll take a quick look through them.
Part number appears to be ER1304 but I still can't find solid dimensions anywhere so I can get a local replacement. 6mm seems to be the best guess so far.
I have a leak on the banjo for cylinder one and wanna run to Napa to get new washers, but I can't find what size they are anywhere and it would be nice not to have to disassemble the truck im driving to measure them. Anyone know offhad what the hole size is? They seem to come with the...
Sounds like a sender to me. If you have a poor ground to your instrument panel, the gauge can float higher, but I can't see it pegging then dropping to nothing and staying there from a ground.
Did you keep the stock amplifiers? If so you probably have a ground loop between the output of the head unit and the amps. There is a ground loop adapter I think one of the rover parts places that will fix it. The ground inside any vehicle dash is noisy, which is fine because everything...
The ZF is effectively silent. I had a Chinese replacement that died in a year and sounded like sump pump the whole time. If you have a Zf and its making noise in sharp turns but not fuly extended its on its way out. May last a month. May last 3 years. Cehck it and keep it full daily, and it will...
Grounding is a HUGE issue on Rovers. That said, if you can hear it spinning, chances are its the throw out bushing ( I think that's what its called). If the motor is spinning strong enough to hear , it should have pitched in and either spun the engine or stopped. It's plausible taking it off and...
Also, you'll prolly end up with grounding issues (can you tell I did this on a D1 already?). Assuming you have an existing system that uses external amps, the wiring harness has no ground, and the radio is grounded to the chassis. The problem with this is that most new head units wont accept a...
Oh, and you'll need one of these to make the external controls work:

Crutchfield is your friend. They will have both the appropriate harness and the frame kit if one is required. Depending on what you have in there, you could be in for some other issues though. If your current system includes external amps, you may or may not get shitty results trying to use them...
Also, when you see items listed at absolutely STUPID prices, with sales history of people buyin them but leaving no feedback, that's a money laundering operation. The items are deliberately priced so no one sane would buy them, and there's no positive feedback to encourage someone stupid enough...
Re: 100% Proof that liners are moving at 'normal' operating temps & causing the tapping!
The only engine I ever worked on with slipping liners (non-rover) had multiple issues. For starts it causes a lot of overall power. If it goes on long enough it will hammer the head gasket apart and...
That looks like an decent but not astonishing price assuming its been well maintained and is clean. There are a few members in that general area who might help. We have been having our monthly meetings at a restaurant in Villa Park actually. Since its an S model you don't get most of the...
Where is the disco located and what are they asking for it. Most people here could tell you from the year, miles and price if its worth it as a starting point. I trust you've done your research and know what you are getting into. So far, my experience has been that people seem to WILDLY...

Facebook as well. This weekend many are on their way to pipeline for a snow 4x4 extravaganza. I would not consider myself qualified to do a lookover as compared to some others as I am still learning the Rover specifics. If you are in the...
Re: 100% Proof that liners are moving at 'normal' operating temps & causing the tapping!
If you pay someone to rebuild it, pay close attention to where they work. There's a shop near me that does rebuilds, and they aren't cheap. They do the rebuilds on a bench on one side of the shop, and 15...
