Is it possible that a milemarker 8000# winch could be enough to move a D2?
I don't do serious off roading...just light trail stuff and I would consider the winch as an extra measure of safety. Would also like to use it to move a few small trees on my property.
I just don't know how to assess...
I don't know if you're keeping a list of potential buyers or not, but I'm in the market for a rack that sounds like the design you'll be making.
If you are, put me on the list or hopefully make a lot of noise on this forum when you're ready to get started.
Thanks everybody for taking the time. I think you're going to save me a headache or two.
I'll check back in when I return and let you know how it went.
Planning a trip from Oregon to Mexico thru Nogales.
I think I like the idea of driving straight down I5 to Los Angeles and then cut over to Highway 10 just north of LA and heading to Tucson.
My question is this: Is highway 10 one of those infamous LA freeways that are all stop and go...or is...
My thanks to everyone for chiming in. There's some very good advice here. My question might sound like I should be able to figure this stuff out myself, but I'm from the rainy Northwest and don't have any real experience with prolonged desert driving.
So now I've got my list, including a tarp...
'02 disco with 69K, well maintained. Heading out of the Northwest for a 4000 mile roundtrip through the desert southwest and northern Mexico. Mostly all highway...no real off roading. but temps into the 100 degree plus.
Question 1: is it worth switching over to synthetic oil?
Question 2...
Did the U shaped mounting brackets just slide up and onto the frame member without any problems?
The install guide says to take off the front sections and rout out the bolt holes, then put them back on, then slide the U shaped brackets into place. Did you do all that?
Thanks,
Interestingly enough, the procedure to install this bumper which can be found in the RAVE CD makes no mention of airbag sensors or disconnecting the battery.
I'll have to get my research hat on and figure this thing out. I just have this indelible picture in my mind of popping off the front...
I just got an estimate to have a nudge bar installed on my '02 disco and the shop mgr said that he could do it but would not take responsibility for the possibility of having the airbag sensors go off and inflate the airbags after the sensors are reconnected.
According to him, the battery would...
If I understand correctly, the 60,000 mile transmission service requires the replacement of 8 quarts of transmission fluid, but not a filter change.
If that's the case, is there any reason to drop the pan?
Any thoughts appreciated.
