Just a follow up, for what it's worth. I got the lights working again. The light switch on the stalk is apparently wearing and a little sticky. I sprayed some silicon lubricant in the switch and worked it back and forth a little. It seems to work reliably for now. We will see how long that...
Yep, everything else works just great. Just the dash lights out. And the back lighting for the radio controls as well IIRC.
If I have trouble locating the problem I may just try jumping the lights to another power supply line and a switch.
I did a search and didn't find much that seemed to apply to my problem, so.... My dash lights don't turn on when I flip the headlights, or parking lights on. Sometimes after driving for awhile they will come on. But then the next time I turn the headlights on, they are out again. These kind...
Maintenance? I've replaced the filter behind the tail light at the recommended interval. I also just replaced the airbags with a new set this last winter (old ones were leaking). I just rolled over 100k and everything seems to be working fine.
Yeah, the installation of the shuttle valve is pretty simple. A nice easy fix if it takes care of the problem.
Just to update my situation. I finally made it in to the dealer a couple months ago to have the lights cleared and codes read after installing my new shuttle valve. Their...
After I replaced my valley gasket, the motor wouldn't start and I had all kinds of lights lit up on the dash. After I calmed myself down from thinking I just killed my Disco, I pushed the fuel reset switch on the passenger side firewall. Then it started right up with no problem. Whew! I...
I just discovered that the front pinion seal needs to be done on my DII. I've done plenty of them in jeeps, just not on a Disco. To do this job in 10 min is simply amazing in my opinion. I'll plan on 45 min to an hour, from start to completion. ;) I guess that's why I'm not a pro.
Well, I wish I would have known about the NAPA joints about a month ago. I unfortunately already have them installed in my front DS. I was desperate for a replacement because one of the joints was completely toast. And NAPA was the only store in town with a joint that would fit (sorry no...
1/2 inch breaker bar with a pipe to slip over the end for extra leverage. No 3/8's drives for the heads, use 1/2 inch. Ask me how I know. Wear eye protection!
Before I knew any better by reading on this forum, I installed a set of Bosch platinum 2's in my Disco II. It seems to run fine and I've had them in for about 35k miles. I went into the parts store to get the factory champions, but they didn't have any. But they did have the Bosch so I used...
I guess I just don't see what the big deal is about replacing some worn out u-joints. Yes, they do wear out, and if you don't fix it, it will go kaboom. I just rebuild the front DS on my Disco II with 95k on it. I noticed that rust was oozing from one of the caps instead of grease. No big...
Yep, we've got the good stuff (cheese that is). :D There's plenty of it here for sure. I'm quite sure that we still have more cows then people. But that does seem to be changing fast. Lots of really nice places going up on the beach. I'm sure your in-laws will enjoy it allot. :)
I suspect thats what it will take.
So LR3's don't have the three amigos? That just doesn't seem right. I might panic and think something was actually wrong if I didn't have those 3 guy's staring back at me.
Ahhh, yes. Apparently I need to slow down and read a little better. :o It did seem like a heck of a deal.
Since we're correcting things, I guess it's actually closer to $20.00 less then the in-dash unit. But the point is they are much better cup holders. I almost never use the dash one...
I put those in my Disco, and they are MUCH nicer then the dash mounted ones. But where the heck did you find them for $30.00 or less? I think I paid about $75.00 for them from the stealership.
