I am a university student on break, and am trying to compile a list of maintenance things to do so it is ready for when I will be heavily commuting again, so anything I notice that seems a bit off I want to nip in the bud right now. On cold starts only, the engine begins to start, then almost...
No that helps a lot, I was basically making sure it was straightforward as you said, and I wasn’t missing anything else that I might need to do. Yes those bolts connecting to the y pipe r pain in the yk what, I’ve tightened/ untightened them probably 5 times in the past 6 weeks now 😊. Thank you...
I have a stripped bolt on the manifold half of where the y pipe meets the exhaust manifold. It is a new bolt from a gasket kit from AB. My line of thinking (since the threaded bolt is only in the top half) is to take the exhaust manifold off, and remove the stripped bolt. It is the middle of the...
Hello all, a recent opportunity came up and I am quite interested. A family friend of mine is selling an old Range Rover classic for a missionary who is trying to raise money for himself. The guy replaced a lot of it with Chevy parts, including a 6.2 Chevy Diesel engine, and a 4l80 transmission...
It was leaking out of the exhaust manifold connection to the Y pipe, got the gaskets changed and stripped a bolt in the process, which is quite the bummer. However, the one side that didn’t have a bolt stripped still leaks a bit of air, any suggestions as to why?
Thank you, I will look into that. It turns out it was leaking where the manifold meets the y pipe. I am in the process of replacing the gaskets. If I am unable to fix it before Monday, is this unsafe at all to drive as a commuter with the issue?
U were right, significant bubbling where the Y pipe connects to the exhaust manifold, on both sides. The passenger side was really severe. I tightened all of the bolts, and while they seemed to be loose, the bubbling still continued afterwards. Is this a case of needing new gaskets, or could...
Both upstreams were replaced at the same time, I was able to clean it and the code went away. This is a stupid question, but where/ how do I buy the ELM app? Also, what would cause one downstream 02 sensor to throw all of those exhaust manifold leaks, while another one only says p1159? Thank you...
I’d also like to apologize for the long statement, just wanted to get as many details in as I could. Thanks, because I am fed up with 02 sensors at this point.
So long story short, august I replaced ALL 02 sensors. Went off-roading, front one (upstream) had issues, finally fixed it. 750 miles later, downstream starts popping about 3 codes.. I do the same thing as upstream (clean it and the catalytic converter itself, which cleared 2/3 codes, the one...
I was able to get it on a lift today while replacing an 02 sensor. Turns out it was a warped tire, hard to tell until I had it up on a lift. Thanks for the help!
I found a sticker residue that looks like a missing weight on my back left tire, so I’m hoping that’s all it is. I have to repair an 02 sensor, so I’m going to take it to a hobby shop to check everything y’all have said anyways, better safe than sorry. Thanks for your help!
Hello everyone, my 2004 discovery 2 V8 started experience mild bumpiness when decelerating yesterday while getting off the interstate. This symptom has only worsened in a day, turning into a noticeable bump to the acceleration (20ish to 40ish mph, and by bumpiness think of having a square for a...
Thank you, still trying to see if it is my 02 sensor or the cat, but based off of previous issues, I have a feeling it is the catalytic converter. I appreciate your help!
This is also another probable stupid question, but if I were to replace a bad catalytic converter, is the only option to buy a new ypipe? They are pretty expensive.
