the front cover needs to come off. You can find a replacement oil pump gear from atlantic british I believe. Otherwise the front cover assembly is $$. I worked on a disco II once that had the oil pump/gear shatter. The ouil light was on and it made a nasty noise from the front cover as it ran...

those suck. You really have to evac the system. Open it up and replace the receiver dryer. Empty out ac compressor of all oil. Refill compressor. Evac system. Recharge correct amount of r134a. Do it right the first time or you will ruin your compressor.
