the truck: '99 D2 with ~99k. it's been well behaved for the most part. earlier this year its transmission was replaced but other than that no major issues.
the problem: very rich at idle with lots of hesitation/bogging/no power on steep climbs. it will barely pass 3k in any gear. this seems...
any idea why the windshield and upper dash vents don't send as much heat as the floor vents? the floor vents work just fine. it just seemed to start recently.
thanks!

so i just finished changing the plugs and wires on my D2. i went ahead and removed the plenum because i did a PCV breather mod too.
anyhoo, i buttoned everything back up and i'm getting a lot of popping sounds from under the hood. sounds exactly like an exhaust leak but alas, i did not work...
hi all-
i was wondering if anyone has an RTE rear bumper for their rangie. even if you don't, what i'm looking for are some pics of how it looks from the side and maybe closeup to the tail gate. the pic on the site looks nice but i was wondering about some more detail shots. thanks!
andy
ok, as usual, i'm having a bit of an "issue."
the exposition:
the transmission is controlled by splined shaft that actuates the valve body. the shaft is connected to the selector lever in the cabin by a cable. the cable attaches to an arm that fits onto the splined shaft. and the leg bone...
what did you do with the access panel to the tank? i've got a D2 but this would be applicable to D1s as well. did you just mask it off and paint it after or simply leave it alone? thanks.
andy
so while the transmission is still having issues, the engine decided to participate. or rather, it stopped participating. it was running just fine and then in the middle of the day it ceased to start.
i've checked:
-interia switch
-starter
-battery
-confirmed trans is in park
-brake switch...
so, i've gotten a replacement transmission installed and everything filled, etc. now, i'm unable to get the transmission selector to reflect the correct gear. i aligned the selector switch and selector lever per RAVE. with the selector lever in the full forward position (park) the truck...
any evidence of ARBs breaking when axles break, ala detriots? for a D2 app. GBR axles aren't really an option-too expensive. i know people are *working* on them but their true existance remains to be seen.
i seached but couldn't find anyone talking about specific ARB failure related to broken...
so i need to replace my transmission and i've decided on a used one with a warranty. my options are:
-local wrecker with a good rep has them with a 2 yr/24K mi warranty for ~$1700
-tidewaterrovers.com shipped for $750 w/ a 6 month warranty. i think john said he'd be willing to add an...
i had started a thread about problems that might be related to an overfilled transmission but after addressing the issues at hand, i'm still having problems. ergo, another post.
so, the levels have been checked in the proper fashion and everything is ok in that regard. also, the filter and...
what might some clues to an overfilled transmission be?
i recently replaced the transmission filter and added around 5-6 quarts. afterwards, i noticed that the upshifts became firmer on the road. when wheeling yesterday and on a small hillclimb the "manual" and "sport" mode lights as well as...
has anyone gotten rid of the factory auto dimming rear view mirror and replaced it with a regular non dimming one from shucks, autozone, et al? i'd like to get rid of mine as it is delaminating but i'm assuming that it isn't just stuck into place like an old skool one; is there a bracket that...
ok, so i'm attempting to install a D1 CDL into my D2 and i can't seem to get the CDL part to cooperate. regardless of whether the transfer case nipple is in lock or unlock, as i tighten down the nut, the transfercase locks and the lever doesn't seem to have enough travel to unlock it. is there...
so i have a fairly complete D1 CDL linkage that i'm planning on installing into my D2. the only thing missing is the D1's hi/lo shifter rod. apparently the D2's is cable actuated and cannot be retrofitted.
is it possible to fabricate what i need instead of attempting to track down this...
i'm planning on installing a D1 linkage into my '99 D2 and while reading over the threads some people have mentioned having to weld/repair the linkage in order to get it to fit their D2s. i know that the rod must be bent, but since i have a welder handy, where should i reinforce the mechanism...
i'm hoping that someone that owns a superwinch ep9 can help me. ever since i got the winch, it's always been hard to unspool. i've read the manual and i'm certain i've got the clutch lever in the correct position. do other ep9 owners experience more drag on this winch than others? it seems...
so what makes a tire "non DOT approved?" i ask this seemingly retarded question because interco is selling the exact tire i'm looking (size wise) but they say that it's for off highway use only.
here comes the dumb question...how unsafe would it be to run these on the road?
(checking to see...
