Ha! Maybe using the 24mm socket for the crank pulley is the magic trick to doing it by yourself ;) I used 11 mm for the oil pan and some other stuff. Is none of the hardware on a 96 Disco metric?

i replaced the wires one at a time, and the truck seems to run too well for that situation. I'll check though. But in general, if you're hearing popping noise like that coming back through the intake, are you thinking it might be a timing/misfire type thing? Like I'm hearing certain cylinders...
