    Motor dies...

I had the same symptons you mentioned about 2 years ago and turned out to be a bad inertia switch, would keeping 'popping' causing the engine to shut down and would crank but no fuel since the inertia switch cuts off the fuel. Would either have to wait 5 minutes or pop the hood and push the...

    99 D2 Engine Problem

Do the Hazard Lights come on when it happens ? If so could be the inertia switch. If it's the inertia swtich it's on the passenger side firewall, push down on the top of it, the black 'button' to reset it, I had to replace mine, pretty cheap fix though. I don't know if a bad CPS will cause...

    Greasing the Rear Driveshaft

Makes sense, thanks for the explanation, I will start jacking it up and putting it in neutral next time I lube. I do lube the sliding portion every time also, I normally just lube until the rubber seal feels firm, but sometimes a little grease does squeeze out from under the seal.

    Greasing the Rear Driveshaft

Lots of Driveshaft posts in Search but I didn't see one specifically on my question. I had to replace the zerk in the U-Joint on my rear shaft, the original DII shaft, because even with a new coupler the grease would just go around the zerk and not in the zerk. I replaced w/ a 6mm and now the...

    DII Lugnuts

DiscounTire did the same to mine earlier this year. I ordered these off ebay and have no complaints, all one piece so no cover to worry about and they look good too. Discount gladly reimbursed me the $137 plus shipping for these after they called the dealer and heard the outrageous quote of...

96 DI die when I am driving on the road

I'm not sure if DI's have the same inertia switch as a DII, but my '00 DII did the same thing and it turned out be a bad inertia switch connection. It died about 4X while I was driving, once going 65 on I-65 going to Chicago, not a good feeling. The switch would keep tripping and kill the...

Dealer says my engine is leaking oil because it is synthetic.. BS?

Has anyone used Auto-Rx in their Disco ? Seems like it would be good to use for someone who is thinking of switching to synthetic from conventional, especially for higher mileage engines. I don't think this would solve the leaks but may dissolve all the sludge buildup. http://www.auto-rx.com/

    Discovery Side Steps

Welcome to Discoweb rauster, most people on here are very helpful, it's a great source of info for your Disco. I installed running boards about 2 years ago, I have a 4 & 2 year old and the boards make it a lot easier for them to get in and out. I got them from DAP, Inc. but the installation...

    Brake Pads for '04 D2

I've been very happy with the Ferodo pads front and rear and the Allmakes brand (made in the UK) cross-drilled and slotted rotors from British Pacific, very good price too. http://www.britishpacific.com/BPSite/LandRoverDiscovery/disco_cat_pages/disco2-5.pdf Here's a link to a fantastic write-up...

    Told my neighbor...

There's a good write-up in the tech section - http://www.discoweb.org/slstocoils/index.htm I haven't switched to coils, but I did replace my original air springs about two years ago with the Arnott aftermarket springs, roverconnection.com has them for $230 for the pair with a lifetime warranty...

How much of a PIA is the trans filter replacement?

I didn't see your post before you completed the job, but there is a good writeup in the Tech section on the trans filter and fluid replacement. http://www.discoweb.org/transmissiond2/index.htm

    Heated Seat Activation Kit

They are also pre-wired for a heated windshield. I have the glass coverage thru State Farm and when I had to get a new windshield because of a crack it covered a heated one. I ordered the dash switch from roverconnection, $13 bought the relay from the dealer, $14 and my local indie Rover shop...

Help! Rear door swung open too far now won't close

I got if fixed Monday, found a place I had heard of but never been to before in the Denver area, LindenEngineering, good parts resource for Disco I and II's + RR's. They also repair Pinzgauer, see attached pic. http://lindenengineering.com/ The hinge is white, I'll spraypaint it when it gets...

Help! Rear door swung open too far now won't close

Does anyone know if the DI and DII tail door hinges are the same ? I found a parts place which has the DI hinges in black which would match, if those don't work then he also has the DII hinges in silver which would be fine, just wouldn't match. I know I could take it to an autobody place to...

Help! Rear door swung open too far now won't close

Thanks for the responses, the 2x4 is a good idea, luckily I was leaving my house when it happened so I have it in the garage now and driving our other car. The hinges look easy enough to unbolt from the frame but the hinge on the door looks like it is indeed riveted. I have two good indie...

Help! Rear door swung open too far now won't close

2000 Discovery II. So I made a dumb mistake, forgot to close the rear door all the way and when I went around the first corner the rear door swung open and now it won't close. The rear hinges are bent and I'm not sure what I can do to get them bent back out or if I just need new hinges only ...

Replacing Rear Air Spring Bellows for Discovery... ANY ADVICE

Here's a tech article which will definitely help in getting the old ones off. http://www.discoweb.org/slstocoils/index.htm Then putting the new ones on is easy. I agree w/ Wulfraat, pry the clip off first with a screwdriver, unscrew the compressor hose and then push down on the bag, this will...
