so, there I was,.....take the tape and insert it into the deck , see if it will play, cycle through a FF and then REW, then eject it, maybe the limit switch just didnt close, and it needs another cycle to function properly

you can try some acetone on a rag. wipe one spot then move to another as the acetone may eat into the plastic. so its one wipe, then move to another area, wait a minute, then wipe the same spot again, this should remove the paint but leave the plastic undamaged

have you swapped in a new Rover MAF? do you have any vacuum leaks?

next time your driving the truck and it wont go with lots of gas, stop and take a peek at the cats if they are glowing red (do this at night,) then they may be clogged, or you have ignition issues

what does the white smoke smell like? If its sweet then you have a coolant leak. You can tell pretty quick by removing the spark plugs and looking at them, if any look really clean or even have a rusty electrode then you have a coolant leak into that cylinder

try using STP oil treatment it works great for priming the oil system and the pump will draw the oil

I would suggest to use STP oil treatment for priming the oil pump. pour some into the gears then assemble the pump it works.

test the coolant for hydrocarbon the swelling/ excessive pressure sounds like signs of a cracked block
