I replaced my '99 D2 radiator following Borchera's directions. Great step by step and thank you for the "USE A POZI DRIVE" advice. I didn't have to disconnect the tranny cooler lines. No problems except for minor skinned knuckles and finger cuts.
x2 on the LR Club VI fix. Its a great write up. I haven't seen the Amigos since I did the mod about 18 months ago. While there I also changed the shuttle valves.

I just crawled out from under the truck after changing diff and xfer oil, washed up, and am now reading this thread! I used the H Freight hand pump and spilled oil all over the garage floor. Even though I swore I would not change the oil again on this truck - I like the idea of using surgical...
I have a '99 D2 and had something similar. As the truck (and underhood stuff near the engine) heated up, the hesitation and rough idle improved. I changed the coils and all has been fine - whatever "fine" means in Rover speak. No more hesitation, rough idle or miss. Good luck!:)
JohnB:
Were you able to change the coils WITHOUT removing the plenum? If so please share your secrets with the rest of us girly handed guys.
I have swollen knuckles, cut arms, and an aching back but at least I am firing on all cylinders now.

"99 D2 needs love and affection
I had to change the gasket on the driver's side flange on my '99 D2. I broke a stud, ended up pulling the manifold, drilling out the broken piece and then tapping the hole. The next week I met a guy who worked at a stealership and he said the studs usually break so they almost always drill out...

I am still waiting for the '99 D2 bumper and the rear 1/3 seat tan w/ black piping. Yesterday you gave me a bogus UPS tracking number and the promised photos were never emailed. You've had my $700 for over a month, all I have is a lot of promises and excuses.
There is a lot of trust...
I have read that you can search for a vacuum leak with the engine running, by moving the burner end of an UNLIT propane torch along the vacuum hoses and fittings. When the engine revs up you found your leak.
1st: Reread the word in capital letters.
2nd: Take common sense fire prevention...
You can try using electric-clean on the MAF wire but that did not work for me. Spray electric-clean to get the light off for a few days but if/when it comes back on, you should then go for the new MAF.
This may sound basic but its worth a shot if it saves you time and effort. Pop off the LR emblem from the outside handle and spray the latch mechanism with wd-40 or silicone. I spray the guts every 6 months. LR designed the latch release so that a microscopic layer of oxidation interferes...
My 99 D2 purchased with 80K miles came with GY Wranglers. My first drive in coastal Connecticut (meaning mild) December snow flurries had the D2 sliding like a greased pig. Dumped the Wranglers and I have been very happy on Geolanders for the last 2.5 years and 25K miles.
I have a '99 D2 and my cruise control went out on mile 2 of a 1000 mile trip from Connecticut to Quebec in February. When I got home and defrosted I looked under the hood and found the vacuum hose to the cruise control unit cracked. The hose was routed in a tight 180 degree bend that...
My '99 D2 passenger side taillight lens fills or fogs every 6 months. When I first bought her I removed the lens, wiped the tears with Bounty and then blow dried her. The clear lens lasted 3 weeks until the next rain storm. I read a thread on this board where one of our afflicted brethren...
Go green. My green '99 D2 only stains my garage in 4 places but my brother's silver 96 D1 stains his garage in 6 places and gets him stuck in the forest.
Whatever you decide - good riding!!
Yeah I'm a victim with a toaster branded ass from a '99 D2. It was a cold November morning, 5AM in Connecticut, and I figure that the ride to the coffee joint will be that much better with a warm ass. Well warm is one thing - branded is another. I didn't realize that the switch went from "off"...
I have a '99 D2. I cleared the codes and sprayed CRC electric contact cleaner every weekend for a month - then I broke down and bought a new MAF. The spray did not work for me but a $5/5 minute fix is worth trying.
Replace the MAF meter (we call it a sensor). Check the recent thread "MAF Sensor?" I made my first post there 10 hours ago on those same codes. Good luck and get used to it!
At 108K my 99 D2 SEL comes on and I pull four codes: 732 - gear 4 ratio incorrect, 1171 - manufacturers F/A meter system lean, 174 - bank 2 lean, 171 - bank 1 lean. So I start my verbal tirade about how a F/A issue can cause a tranny problem in only the fourth gear. I cleared the codes and...
